Opening a pool w/ high pollen in the air

Testing at 12:30 today - in full sun my CL dropped only 1 over 6 hours and my CC is now back to .5. I really think its the smoke at night that’s throwing off my readings.

Opening a pool w/ high pollen in the air

Something hit me this morning when I tested my SLAM. Yesterday afternoon when I tested my CCs were at .5. At 10:30 when I tested they were at 1. This morning the pool stunk and my CC is 2.5. As I was fantasizing a backhoe filling my pool w/ 10 dump trucks of dirt it occured to me that it...

That’s what was happening before nature through Mardi Gras into my pool.

Opening a pool w/ high pollen in the air

About the only thing I didn’t do was unscrew the pool light so the water could get behind it. That’s next on the list, though I was hoping to avoid it this year.

Opening a pool w/ high pollen in the air

I give up. I’ve had wind gusts of 25 mph dumping forest garbage into my pool all day long and to this very hour. I’ve cleaned out my skimmer socks 4 times, 2 skimmers each. Each time they socks were caked with forest garbage and pollen. My robot has been patrolling the bottom of the pool all...

Chlorine 22 CYA 45 (midway between the 50 and 40 in the tube) pH 7.2 (before the SLAM) TA 90 CH 245 Borates 30-40 (test strip - not very precise)

Opening a pool w/ high pollen in the air

Hi Gang, Its seems in in a quandry. My pool passes OCLT and is crystal clear, however I have persistent 1ppm CC. I break it during the day w/ the sun on the pool, but overnight it comes back. I don’t lose any chlorine overnight. Could it be the high winds and pollen blasting my pool all day...

    Possible bad salt cell??

In my case the board is definitely set to the correct cell size.

    Possible bad salt cell??

I find it interesting that your Taylor kit registered so high. Mine is also registering very high, in stark contrast to what my board is telling me. My cell was having a hard time keeping up so I replaced it - the new T15 is showing the same salt level as the old one (but i'm getting good...

    Hayward Aquarite giving me ajada

Is it possible that my water temperature is in some way modifying what the board is displaying? My pool gets full sun and often sits around 87-93 degrees during the afternoon/early evening when my pump is running.

That's interesting - so when you put the new salt cell in that registered what the Taylor test read - did you have to drain the pool to dilute the salt? In my case if the salt cell goes bad down the line and the new cell reads accurately, I'll need to drain 20-25% of my water to get the salt down.

Thanks again !!! I’ll let it run more while I’m at work and drop a bag or two in when I get home. Each bag nets me about 200 ppm for my pool size.

Thanks for the quick reply !!! 600-1000ppm more salt in my pool is safe? That would put my ‘real’ salt level up around 4300-4500 ppm.

    Hayward Aquarite giving me ajada

My pool is 3.5 years old. I noticed my pool seemed to be having problems keeping the chlorine up in the pool. I was running my generator at 90 percent and was still seeing my levels slowly drop. To make sure it wasn’t something in my pool, I did a OCLT (overnight chlorine loss test) and...
