    I hadn't added anything but the MA. Of course, now we are having buckets of rain...lol But I will take more care with the TA drops. I had done both the 10mm test, and then the 25mm test because I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. when it quits raining I will test again.

    My CYA is way too high and I know that. I've gone to all liquid chlorine, muriatic acid, etc. using Taylor testing. Today my ph was at 8 and my TA (appropriately factored for CYA was 109. Added the pool math suggestion to lower PH...tested 2 hours later...PH is now 7.5 but my TA shot up to 122...

    Why do diff companies have diff target levels? (ie bioguard vs taylor vs tfp)

    For instance, regarding alkalinity, Bioguard recommends between 125-150, Hach strips 80-120, Taylor 80-120 and TFP says 60-80. 23,000 gal plaster pool, 18 yrs old.
