What is this plumbing part? Air break?

Gotcha, I'll check for wires. If that was it then I don't need it and can skip that PVC part. Thank you both for your help.

What is this plumbing part? Air break?

I need to replace a check valve to the right of this, and PO was nice enough to but all of the connections/valves/checks right up against each other so I need to replace the the entire run. I have purchased all the parts except this gray thing. I have another on the waste line and I think it...

Advice needed: Check valve cracked, solution for replacing?

Thanks everyone for the info. I have ordered the Jandy valves and check valves. I ordered enough to replace the entire upper structure in case it comes to that. If I only need the one check and 3-way valve then I'll have the extras for when I need them.

Advice needed: Check valve cracked, solution for replacing?

Ah, I hadn't thought about the through volume! Too many would probably make a difference. yeah, this is a freak accident, that valve isn't automated and I just forgot to crack it back open for when the freeze guard kicked in. Won't do that again (I hope). Do you know where I can find out if...

Advice needed: Check valve cracked, solution for replacing?

That makes sense too. This house has had nothing but issues with the sprinklers and pool since I moved in..bought someone else's headaches :) I have always been hesitant to use unions as well for the reasons you listed, more leak points. I'd just love to be able to swap out parts without...

    check valve differences

I repaired my check valve (I have the Jandy "use a screwdriver" type) when my spa started to drain down last year. I am not sure how to tell when yours is down, but I would say that the screw-front type is 100% the way to go. Took me a few bucks and 3 minutes to repair the flapper and stop the...

Advice needed: Check valve cracked, solution for replacing?

Thanks for both your replies, and I'm watching that other thread you got this picture from as well since he will have the same problem I have. After looking at my system I think I'm going to just replumb the entire return side with unions everywhere. The guy before me has slip connectors and...

Robot returns to the same step

My 3900 was getting stuck on our deep-end step as well, but the backup valve always kicks in and moves it after a few minutes. One thing that did help was replacing the tires on it. Mine had worn way down, the new ones added about 1/4" and that made a difference as far as it catching on...

    Diverter Replacement Project

Watching this thread because you are going to have the same issue on that side labeled "water feature" that I have...lack of room. Looks like you have plenty of room on the Cleaning System side for unions and the line in from the front has room but you will have to add it before the 90.

Broken ring around return jet inlet

I had to use MSPaint then "resize" to 50%. That solved my photo size issue, might help with yours?

Advice needed: Check valve cracked, solution for replacing?

Sorry for the odd title, been mulling it for 10 minutes now and can't figure out how to be most descriptive. So here's the story: Bought the house almost two years ago, this winter I was stupid and didn't leave one of the manual valves open to a return line and the check valve body busted...

Moved in a month ago, want to do things right this time.

Quick update, went out this evening after the pool had been off for about 2 hours. I had no drain down like air was coming into the system. Turned on the system and wasn't pulling any air or blowing any bubbles. The only thing different today than yesterday was 1) no major rain storm...

Moved in a month ago, want to do things right this time.

Quick addition: After I wrote this I did some searching. My diverter float has a crack in it and is filled with water. SO I'll be buying a new one of those. As for the air leak, I have poked around on it a bit more. When I pull just from the spa, no bubbles. When I pull from either...
