Cover that protects from UV but doesn't heat?

I was afraid of that. How do pool service companies keep the chlorine at the right levels when they only come once a week? I've found that without a cover, even with proper CYA levels, I'm adding bleach constantly.

Cover that protects from UV but doesn't heat?

I live in Las Vegas, so obviously without a cover there are extreme levels of evaporation and chlorine degradation. The problem is that with a cover the pool gets up to 90-95+ degrees in the summer, making it unusable. My pool is quite large, so dragging the cover off every night to get some...

    Hayward Vac Ultra Turbine Question

I've had my Ultra for many years. Recently there have been times when it doesn't want to move. When I reel it in, I can see that the turbine isn't spinning. If I stick my finger in the suction hole and barely touch the turbine, it starts spinning and it works again (flaps are flapping and it...

    IC 60 issues

Hi Jim, I tried the OCLT test last night. I unplugged the generator and about a half hour later tested the water and it was 5 ppm FC (~8 pm). Then this morning I tested it at ~5 am and it was still 5 ppm. Also, I've noticed the pH isn't going up as much as it usually does when it's producing...

    IC 60 issues

I installed an IC60 in May 2018 and I've noticed this year that I've needed to raise the % operation to 60-80% to maintain a chlorine level that used to be achieved with 6-8%. There was some scale inside, so I cleaned it with diluted hydrochloric acid, but it didn't help. The "Good" salt...

    Skim-A-Round Baskets?

It didn't fit my Pentair S-20 so they sent me another ring....that also didn't fit. My skimmer has little tabs in it that won't allow the rings to seat in the skimmer so it effectively prevents the Skim-A-Round from forming a tight seal. I threw mine in my shed for a backup and bought a regular...

    Controller for valve actuators

Thanks, Jim. Could I use a 4 station 24VAC sprinkler timer? Attach one wire to ground, one to "station 1" and one to "station 2"? Would that work? Forgive my ignorance on this........

    Controller for valve actuators

I'm looking for a simple controller for a few valve actuators I'd like to install. All the ones I've seen are sophisticated and meant to control the entire pool system, including pumps, filters, LEDs, water features, etc. (Aqualink, Intellitouch...) All I need it to do is activate the actuator...

    Old pool lighting, help!

My house came with a pool and I'm slowly fixing all the issues I inherited. I think the pool was put in at least 25+ years ago. I'm now looking at the lighting and trying to get a feel for what I'm dealing with. Any and all help with what I have and what I can do is hugely appreciated!! I've...

Can I put flow meter here?

Thanks, I appreciate it! I could be totally wasting my time/money, but that's what hobbies are all about..... lol

Can I put flow meter here?

Jim, Never heard of that myth. I run my pump the least amount I can to save money. I'm a research chemist at a water treatment plant, so I'm up to speed on water chemistry/disinfection. ;) Mainly I'm curious about my flow rate and pump efficiency and like gadgets, so hooking up a flow meter...
