    My food Blog.

Hope everyone is having a Great Memorial Day! We had a pool party yesterday. Thanks to all the expert advice I got on this forum everyone complimented me on the sparkling beauty of my pool. Not a single eye irritated. I grilled a TON of burgers and dogs, I'll be having...

    My food Blog.

Hey TFPer's over the last week or so I have been putting together a food blog. Right now there is not much 'outdoor' cooking involved on the blog but that will change now that we are approaching summer. I hope to get a Big Green Egg and create some perfectly smoked meat. Just gotta...

    Backwashing Woes

Would the repair be something I could tackle myself? Any guides? This is my problem. I tested yesterday and when in filter position it gushes water. I'm not very happy about it and do not want to spend the upwards of 100 bucks to replace it. For now I'm just going to un-clamp my hose each...

    Backwashing Woes

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll give it a shot tonight. I haven't yet tried running on filter mode with the backwash hose still on. Now that I know it won't cause damage and is designed to function like that I'll ensure there are no leaks when I try.

    Backwashing Woes

Ok so it sounds like I might be doing it wrong from the beginning. Each time I backwash: 1. Screw off plug 2. Twist on the elbow 3. Turn handle to backwash 4. Start backwashing. When done I rinse. Then: 1. Turn handle to filter. 2. Remove backwash hose. 3. Screw on plug. 4. Turn on filter...

    Backwashing Woes

I guess I could just get a straight fitting instead of an elbow to not have the backwash hose getting tangled up. However, I would rather have some sort of quick release deal-eo.

    Backwashing Woes

Hello all. I have a hayward vari-flow. My problem is currently my backwash hose is connected to a threaded 1 1/2 inch elbow. When twisting it on to backwash the hose becomes twisted up. I want an easier solution than twisting on an elbow fitting. Is there a piece I can purchase that might...

    Hayward DE return o-ring size?

Awesome. I needed this O-Ring also. Mine got stretched out in the same manner and I am seeing I decent amount of DE in the pool. This could also be due to the small tear I saw in one of my girds. I've ordered new grids, should be here Friday. jblauert, were you able to find the correct...

Hello TFP.. I'm a Newbie and need help.

In the wee hours of the morning yesterday RB started his battle against algae. This fateful day many gallons of blood (liquid chlorine) were spilled, 20 to be exact. The assault was brutal, shock and awe, and more shock. The war rages on even into the early hours of the next morning. The warrior...

Hello TFP.. I'm a Newbie and need help.

Thanks for the tips Jason. Before the sun went down tonight I was able to clear the debris and scooped as much algae as I could scoop out. I figure if I can scoop a quarter of a trash can of algae out then it may mean less backwashing and cleaning of grids. Do you know how many LBS of DE I...

Hello TFP.. I'm a Newbie and need help.

I couldn't wait any longer I had to see what was under the cover to be honest I was a little horrified. I have a full on swap in my back yard. There were even spiders crawling around in the algae. :( Hopefully soon I will be able to share some 'pretty' pictures but for now everyone will have...

Hello TFP.. I'm a Newbie and need help.

Heya Waste!! Deja vu indeed. Just got done reading the "Pool School" tutorials here on this site. At least now I know what kind of Test Kit to get and how dumb I am for buying phosphors treatment  . I'm hoping to order a k-2006 from Amazon.com tomorrow. I have Amazon Prime so I should...

Hello TFP.. I'm a Newbie and need help.

Yes the plugs are in the filter basket as I posted above. My concern is should I put them in if I am not currently running the pump or filter? I have yet to open my pool.

Hello TFP.. I'm a Newbie and need help.

Oops. I forgot to get a picture after I cleaned it. I was rushed by oncoming rain and had to get the filter put back together quickly so I didn't get soaked. It's been raining pretty much everyday in April here in Ohio. I'm going to do what you suggested with the chemicals. I've become pretty...
