Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Ollie’s just got in their 128 oz bottles of 10%. This year’s price is $3.99/gallon. I’m in northeast Alabama.

My Dog Ate My Thermometer 🤦‍♀️

Cool! That’s what I’ll do. I wasn’t sure how accurate the temp would be from the skimmer. Is yours a floating thermometer on a string?

My Dog Ate My Thermometer 🤦‍♀️

LOL....I’m afraid “water “ is their middle name. But that’s a very good idea!

My Dog Ate My Thermometer 🤦‍♀️

Again!! I can’t seem to keep thermometers in my pool. I’ve had two floating ones. My dogs snagged both and destroyed them. Then I decided to just hang a small wall thermometer from a ribbon on a Command hook from the tile on the side of the pool. Was pretty proud of myself for coming up with...

    CYA in fill water

LaMotte ColorQ to test. Fill water tests 50. Pool 58. Fill water is from well. It’s always tested some even from pool store. A cpl years ago they tested 1. Last year I tested 38. My tap water tests positive for CYA as well. I don’t think the LaMotte test for CYA is very accurate? It does great...

    CYA in fill water

How does CYA in fill water factor in to what’s actually available in the pool? Do you subtract from pool water CYA value? Does fill water CYA work with chlorine?

    Fixing recurring skimmer leaks

I’m having the same issue. Repaired with pool putty and 4-6 weeks later leaking again. Not as bad as before...but noticeable water level drop. Coincidentally this started shortly after our weather finally turned towards fall and away from oppressive heat we had this summer. I’m in the process...

    Tork 1109a timer switch?

Anyone have any experience with the Tork 1109A timer switch? I’m looking to put my pump on a timer and this is what is available at my local Lowe’s. The pump/filter (and therefore timer) are inside a pool house so out of the elements...

    First Time to SLAM

SLAM is complete and pool looks awesome! You guys were spot on to suspect the CH readings....I checked and one reagent was expired. (Turns out it has a short shelf life of 6 months to begin with). CH is now up over 200 and added another 5# of CH increaser. Will continue to monitor. Looking...

    First Time to SLAM

I tested CH today and the 10 pounds I added yesterday increased it to 57. How would I know if my test kit is a problem? Where’s the best place to get that large a quantity of calcium chloride? On the SLAMming front, my CC is now up to 1.9. So that means it’s killing stuff off in the pool, yes?

Thanks! I’ve had the water tested before and all was good. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

    First Time to SLAM

Thanks! I’m working on the CH. I think it may have dropped due to the water exchange to get the CYA down? I picked up 10# of calcium increaser at Walmart this afternoon and added that. I know I’ll need a good bit more to get it up to the recommended level. I need to try and locate the more...

    First Time to SLAM

I've been a lurker beginning the end of last pool season. I had my pool opened by a local company (mainly for the manual labor of removing the cover). When the cover came off there was a fair amount of silt covering the bottom and walls. They threw chemicals into a dirty pool (hole in the head...
