    I love the weekend

Maybe we could just bring a chicken over in the morning and join you later for the party

    drop in PSI

As duraleigh said, it's a problem on the suction side. You may be right that there is an obstruction in the impeller. Look into using a sock or "filter saver" in your skimmer basket. Many people here use knee highs or something similar. They all keep the worst of the pool debris from getting...

    I love the weekend

Details please! Is that smoked? How long? ~what temp? I smoked a perfect pork loin a couple of weeks ago. Now, I don't say "perfect" in a boastful way, but rather in a surprised manner. I ALWAYS seem to cook it a bit long and so I dry it out...so I'd love to try a chicken. That looks REALLY good.

    Popup Pool Mystery

 I know - your neighbor was out walking the dog and saw the water running out of the pool. Although you guys aren't really on great terms, he was feeling quite benevolent so he shut off the water. :P I have NO idea :hammer:

pool filter leak; newbies buying the house need help

Well, a leak is a leak. If it's a slightly open bleed valve it's technically not a leak, IMHO. You really need to close the bleed valve while the pump is running and see if you still have a leak IN YOUR FILTER. If not, this MAY NOT BE THE END OF YOUR CONCERNS. If you have a suction side leak...

closing the pool for the first time

Personally I just use the box of like 3 chemicals from the local pool store and have always opened to crystal clear water. I was recently checking this out and came across this from a really well known genius posted on another site about the same product: "chem geek10-07-2007, 02:04 PM You...

    Aaaagh! Bees!

I'd appreciate knowing how that works out. I know the bees pollinate my veggies so I don't want to hurt them...but last year the yellow jacket thing scared me a lot. I have an 8 year old and a 4 year old...so...you know?!

    Aaaagh! Bees!

You may not like like this idea, but maybe you can figure out a similar way of doing it. If your state allows the foaming wasp and hornet spray, it has been really effective for me in discouraging bees. A few times this summer I have seen yellow jackets starting to become interested in certain...

    Filter connection leak fix?

 You too huh? I'm glad I'm not the only one who's amused by these infomercials. Every time my wife and I see one of those we shout out, "But that's not all!!!" just before the offer. Yeah, I know, we need a life.

Adding Chemicals Over the Winter Months

I have always purchased the pool store closing kit - put it in according to the directions - cover and reopened to chrystal clear water. Somewhere on this site there was a suggestion of an algacide and something else. I was going to look at it again closer to closing time. But the short answer...

Using both Tri-Chlor and Liquid Bleech

I think a lot depends on circumstances. I am seriously looking at converting to the BBB method but everything is running so well right now I'm not going to change anything this season. However I have had my pool for 4 years and basically used pucks and HTH "shock" for my chlorine source. I...

Where did all my CYA go

    Ouch!!!

Where did all my CYA go

I've had test strips that were completely unreactive and some that reacted partially. If you are going to use strips I'd suggest that you take more than one reading because they can be all over the place. You can't beat a decent test kit! That being said, why not get to your friendly local pool...
