    CYA Level Issue

I bought a scale and it arrived today. I should be able to better track my cya additions going forward. However, I have a potential complication. Now that there is a lot less pollen and seeds floating around, I've put a hairnet around my skimmer basket to trap stuff before it gets to the...

    CYA Level Issue

I don't have a scale so I've been using a second app to convert the weight that this sites app tells me.

    CYA Level Issue

Ok. Both tubs were closed and in a plastic storage area. The new one was also heavily wrapped in cellophane. Here are my test results 3.0 TC 0.2 CC 7.6 pH 80 CH ? CYA I'm not sure whether the chlorine was a lot. The pool was much better than last year when I couldn't see the bottom. It...

    CYA Level Issue

First, I'd like to thank all of you for your help last year. I learned a ton from this site and was able to get my pool from covered to swimmable in 5 days this year vs. 3 weeks last year. I'm having issues with my CYA. Last year it was at 50, just at the high end of ok. This year, I can't...

    Patching vs replacing a liner

Both issues apply - pumping 22k gallons from my well seems like a good way to make it go dry. My water also has quite a bit of dissolved iron in it. Getting the existing water removed and then put back in sounds great. I'll have to take a look and see if that's available around here. I just...

    Patching vs replacing a liner

I'm new to the journey of having a trouble free pool. So far, it has been nothing but trouble. I went swimming yesterday and the water seems to be noticeably lower than it had been. I'm currently doing a bucket test to figure out if I have a leak. My liner is pretty old, I don't know exactly...

Working on algae, what does "clear" really mean?

That's good information, thanks. I don't have their measurements but the original value was above 100, guess adding 10lbs wasn't needed. Oh well, I should be set on calcium for a while! Thanks for the info on when to test ph and to just vacuum as needed.

Working on algae, what does "clear" really mean?

Re: Working on algae, what does "clear" really mean? Holy moly, I think the slam is done. I tested FC at 8pm last night and 8am this morning and it was 23 both times. CC is still at 0.5 and the water is clear. A couple questions: 1. There is a little brown stuff in the dip at the...

Working on algae, what does "clear" really mean?

Re: Working on algae, what does "clear" really mean? I think my testing was off last night. At 8pm I tested and got 21 FC. This morning I went to test and found black gunk in the little dipper. I wiped it out with a dry cloth, tested and got 22FC (still 0.5CC) The FC couldn't have...

Working on algae, what does "clear" really mean?

Jim's photo is awesome. I tried to replicate it. My phone only zooms to 8x and it's windy but I'd say the water is pretty clear. My FC was down to 18.5 so I added another gallon of LC. I'll be off to buy more LC after work, but I'm finally feeling optimistic.

That's a great idea. I'll try to get away at lunchtime to test and add more. Thanks!

Working on algae, what does "clear" really mean?

Thanks for all the feedback. The water seems clear to me, I can see down to the liner, no issues except some bugs that got into the pool overnight. I tried to take some better pics this morning with the filter off. The water is never completely calm, but this was pretty close. The liner...
