Transitioned to chemical balancing service (concerns)

Running a SWCG has crossed my mind many times, but I feel that the maintenance needed to keep that running isn't cost effective. That was the original reason I decided to go to liquid chlorine. As a side note, I've noticed that my pH increases every time I dosed the pool with liquid chlorine...

Transitioned to chemical balancing service (concerns)

Howdy folks, My workload at work has gone up significantly as I've taken on responsibility for a large, long term project and with the extra hours coupled with being away from my home for longer periods, I caved in and resorted to starting a scheduled chemical balance service from a local pool...

    Gas Chlorine?

I'm assuming that procuring a tank of compressed chlorine gas and plumbing it into a residential pool filtration system using a computer controlled release valve would be a bit unsafe? My neighbor has a chlorine gas service and the water seems overchlorinated.

    Raypak heater - CLK

Same issue started up on my Raypak heater last week. Touch the LCD display and the heater starts working. Must be the display board itself.

Spa heating issue, water level suspect

Yes, thanks again. I'll try it out tonight. Cheers! ?

Spa heating issue, water level suspect

Thank you for that. I went out and manually cycled each valve via its 3-position switch to verify they are still working. They are, but one of them, presumably the return actuator, had its 3-position switch in an odd in-between position; it must not have been doing anything. A closer...

Spa heating issue, water level suspect

Thanks. I have 2 controller automated Jandy valves. I believe one of them rotates into a position that redirects the pump flow into the jets exclusively. There are 2 suction grilles inside the spa, but I'm not sure if another valve is needed to get the suction working or that is also actuated...

Spa heating issue, water level suspect

I hammered out an afternoon mountain bike ride and decided the spa would be a nice thing to soak in afterwards last night. I fired up the spa remotely around 6pm (water temp was 50*F) and by 8pm it had only risen to 58*F. I did the typical checks, but noticed that the pool water level was much...

Popup cleaner keeps popping out of hole

Unfortunately, I'm not the original owner of the pool. I suppose if I start to experience a lot of failures with the popups in the future, I might jump for a complete replacement set using the new style, but so far this has been the only one.

Popup cleaner keeps popping out of hole

I managed to remove the old ejecting popup. The bottom tangs of the housing had broken off completely, so I got a replacement from the pool builder (has a few store fronts in town). Problem is solved, but I did also reduce the GPM... maintaining at 45 GPM now. I'm curious if anyone is using...

Popup cleaner keeps popping out of hole

I've got A&A Style II popup valves throughout my pool. One of my popups has been ejected from its hole, despite my attempts to reseat it using the installation tool. Earlier this summer, I had the main pump replaced with a variable speed and flow unit (Sta-rite). Works great, but the setting...

    Testing for calcium hardness

The above mentioned test is how I've been testing the water for hardness, although I'm using a 10mL sample instead of 20. I did a little research and have discovered that there are some electronic products, such as the Oakton WD-35613 which will make measurements via a calcium specific ISE...

    Testing for calcium hardness

I've been having issues with my whole house water softener (which also refills my pool), so am testing the refill water frequently.
