I have a 24 foot (round) above-ground that holds circa 16,000 gallons. Just now though it has a major algae bloom (deep green) and I can't get my pH down anymore. It is so high (pH) now that it no longer registers on my test-strips and I'm thinking that maybe I should forget trying to balance...

Well, that worked like a charm. Thanks for the tip! The O-ring seems fine too. Super tight around the lid. No damage. Of course, I haven't put it all back together again. Not yet, anyway. So far so good.

After losing both pump and filter last summer I replaced them both with used equipment. My bad. I am now stuck with a leaky pump that is far too powerful for my above ground and a Sta-rite System 2 Modular Media Filter that I cannot open. The filter cartridge is in dire need of replacement...
