    Cost Comparison for Cyanuric Acid?

I thought I made that clear when I stated "why not just get the gallon liquid jugs", lol. No hassle way to add CYA, other than puck or dichlor. Now you got bummed, thought the liquid would be cheaper down south when I retire, lol.

    Cost Comparison for Cyanuric Acid?

Welcome to NY. In two more years, and I'll be paying your prices, lol.

    Cost Comparison for Cyanuric Acid?

Just checked Wallyworld, $30. Same as Leslie's with the $10 discount.

    Cost Comparison for Cyanuric Acid?

For that price, why not just get the gallon liquid jugs for $42 at (the cursed place) Leslies. With discounts, you can get it for $10 less. I have a jug in the garage that's 3 years old and still good for the initial seasonal opening. As the season goes on, I just drop pucks in the floater, or...

    Test Kit Refills

As stupid as it sounds, the speed stir is probably one of the best investments I did for the pool. Thing is 10 years old and still going. I do remove the batteries at the end of season though. I hope I didn't just jinx myself this year.

    First SLAM, over-chlorinated

It'll come down naturally from the sun, plus what gets used killing the algae. Just keep at 16 when it drops to that level. Then do the overnight test.

One pool guy told me that Black algae is almost impossible to kill. Is it true?

Wow, this thread sure was a ride! Is there an update to your pool saga?

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Here on Long Island, NY there is a store called Island Recreation (4 stores on the Island). They always run adds in the paper, mailings and email specials for $0.99 cents per gallon of 6%. A case of 4 jugs is $4 .30 with tax. There is another store, Ocean State Job Lot that always has 12% for...

Pool Mechanicals 15 feet above pool level

It may not meet code because it would require an electrical device below the flood elevation. Wonder if it's possible to install a water feed into the drain plug of the pump basket, powered by a float switch of some sort. It would detect low water and just fill the pump basket and shut down once...

Pool Mechanicals 15 feet above pool level

A 15' rise in elevation from water level to the pump seems drastic. The water will eventually seek its own level and flow back to the pool, even with a check valve. A check valve only holds under pressure. If that happens, there will be air in the suction line. However, I'm not an expert in this...

Pool Mechanicals 15 feet above pool level

Once the pump is elevated 15', and with the back pitch to the pool, is it really still considered closed loop? Even with a check valve, there is still loss of water in the suction pipe. Depending on how long the pump is not running, it may lose it's prime. What if a "trap" is installed between...

Pool Mechanicals 15 feet above pool level

Make sure you are at a minimum of 2' above BFE to be in compliance. The last thing you want to have an inspector deny a CO because of a few inches. I do sympathize with you, the new codes, while well intentioned, are an extreme hindrous to anyone who wants to build something. If you look into...

Pool Mechanicals 15 feet above pool level

As someone who lives on the water, my guess of the OP's mention of "FEMA zone", means they are in a flood zone. The minimum electrical & dwelling requirements for a flood zone are 2 feet above flood. That means he/she is on the map of a 100 year flood occurrence, 13' foot flood zone. After...

    What's your current pool temp?

LOL, my dad rubs it in too. He's over in Tampa and texts me the daily temps everyday. He actually complained a few weeks ago when it was 60. Ugh, 6 more years to retire down there!

    What's your current pool temp?

You Florida guys are killing us northerners. While it's warm for February, 45 today, it's still another 3-4 months before we can enjoy the pool. :(
