Leak in gunite pool, next steps?

Appreciate the reply. Spoke with them in person and they suggested the same. I’m probably going to plug the main drain and floor returns. Now that all the deep plumbing is air-locked from the blowout, the water level has stabilized.

Leak in gunite pool, next steps?

Right, they somehow decided it’s the pool shell. I know it’s not the skimmers or the light fixtures because the water level is so low. So that leaves the main drain and floor returns along with the shell. The deep plumbing can still leak even if the pump is not active, correct? So they should do...

Leak in gunite pool, next steps?

I thought I had a pressure side leak, but volume loss accelerated over the summer, and it continued after I turned off the pump. On the eve of closing, it’s below the level of the light. I’m actually putting water back into the pool and will have to continue thru the winter. The plan is to...

Thinking about DIY closing, but not sure I'm up to the task...

My last thank-you didn't post, so I'll say it again: thank you all for the awesome advice. I'll see about being around for the closing if I can. Bad news about leaks is, it looks like I already have one. So that's another issue to deal with.

Thinking about DIY closing, but not sure I'm up to the task...

Hi, TFP crew. Shortened pool season this year, late start for various reasons, but I took it from swamp to clear with a 4-day SLAM and endless leaf raking from the depths. I am determined to open to a clean pool next year. I've never closed a pool, and this setup which we inherited is...

    Pool and spa

The back of the pool is a rock wall with waterfall. There is one return on each side of the water fall; on the near side, there is a modified return which was originally intended for a pressure-side pool cleaner with booster pump, neither of which are in use.

Close-up of spa. On either side of the little canal that connects to the pool is a return; these have their own return valve at the pump. The jets are divided into two additional circuits, each with their own pump (not valves). A bubbler is also connected to the jets. Dedicated spa drain.

Defunct booster pump circuit on the left (smaller PVC piping); the two tall PVC pipes are the air intake and water outflow for the bubbler, partially hidden from view; then the next two pumps each control half of the spa jets.

In-ground pool, contemplating no winter cover

Yes, I heard from a couple sources about the pool popping out of the ground once it's no longer below the frost line. So, never mind draining it dry. I was able to negotiate the price down considerably, so I'm just going to swallow the expense. Thx for the feedback! (kellyp thanks for the...
