Newbie planning to close pool soon - blowing lines?

Hello all, Sad time of year. I know that I should wait until pool temp is below 60, but here in the Northeast we are in a severe drought, water level is getting to the bottom of the skimmer, and leaves are going to start blowing everywhere. I'm debating about closing up in the next week or so...

How long can you put off replastering?

Thanks peeps! I don't think we are losing water aside from normal evaporation from sun and no rain. We noticed that we had a lot of "sand" in the bottom after our algae bloom and lots of brushing during our slam, but since then we've been using a robot, which seems much gentler. (Duh, that's not...

How long can you put off replastering?

We have a new-to-us IG plaster pool. It's at least 32 years old. I have no idea if it's ever been resurfaced, and I'm pretty sure it's never been painted. We opened it in June, started TFP in July, and have been swimming daily ever since. The pump is old but chugging along, the filter was...

What will it take to clean the dirt from my pool?

Get that FC under control, then +1000 on the M500. It's my first and only experience with a robot, and I couldn't be happier. I tossed him in when I got him, thinking that my pool was pretty clean, and I couldn't believe what came out of the filters. Good luck!

What is reason for weekly timer on pool cleaner ?

Geez, I'm so glad someone asked this question, and I hope someone chimes in! What the heck good is a weekly timer if you aren't supposed to leave it in the pool for extended periods? We are leaving for vacation in 9 days (who's counting), and I'm not planning on leaving my new robot in the...

New to TFP, When to SLAM

I find that I was still testing a lot even after my slam -- it's a new-to-me pool, and I'm learning it's ways. If the budget allows, I would go ahead and reorder some agents so that you don't have to worry about running out (and perhaps will be more inclined to test often). It's about 3 weeks...

    Got my kit...first readings

It took me a couple weeks (and finally a Speed Stir!) to really be comfortable with the process and my results. Just keep testing and you'll get it! Watch some videos too! Good luck!

Chemical balance advice for recently filled pool

I definitely had to play around with pool math and work backwards from what I added and what I ended up testing in order to come up with the correct gallons in my pool. The pool boy told me that we had a 35k gallon pool. Pool math tells me I have 20k. My testing results confirms this. Just...

No chlorine registering in my small ag pool, what to do?

Welcome to TFP! I'm sure the experts will come along any minute to give you some help, but in the meantime you may want to read up on Seasonal Pools in Pool School... And if you happen to be running out to the store later, grab some plain old bleach. Pool School - Guide for Seasonal/Temporary...

New to TFP, When to SLAM

I recently ordered the Speed Stir and it has made all the difference in the world to me for testing. It has a light, so the color change is VERY obvious. Highly recommend getting one if you are having trouble seeing it!

Is a permit usually required for the plastering/replacing tile and coping?

Ok, good to know. Will add it to my questions when I am calling for quotes. Thank you!
