Buildup on top of water, and CYA issue

Two-part question as I'm trying to get rid of my cloudiness. First, what is the gunk in the photos? It's been continuing to form over the last week or so. My pool is not near any trees, flowers etc. It's mainly white, with some dirty brown color when it's clumped together. Also, I'm working...

Cordless vacuum... does it pick up algae at the bottom?

Great feedback, thanks! Sounds like a cordless vacuum is definitely the way to go. It will make it easier to brush more often. It's not a lot of algae at the bottom, it's just that I start noticing some green spots once every week or two. I'll keep a better eye on my FC/CYA levels as well.

Cordless vacuum... does it pick up algae at the bottom?

Hi all, Similar question to many other posts, but couldn't find my specific question. Thinking about getting a battery-operated vacuum for my 18-ft above-ground pool, so I don't have to deal with the hose and suction anymore. I don't get much for debris, leaves, etc. but tend to get algae...

Concrete blocks/pavers under sand filter and pump?

I'm looking to add concrete blocks or pavers under my sand filter and pump this upcoming summer. As seen in the photo below, the area is kind of a lower wet spot, and the filter seems to be sinking in the ground a bit. The grass trimming around the area is kind of a pain as well. I'm not...

Thoughts on these pool waterfall sprayers?

To be honest I've never had an issue with the pool water being too warm (living in Wisconsin :)), but good to know there are more added benefits with the pool sprayer. Thanks for sharing!

Thoughts on these pool waterfall sprayers?

See link below. Thoughts on these, or does anybody have experience? Seems like a fun (and affordable) addition to our above ground pool. I'd make sure it's compatible with our pump first. Pool sprayer

Help! Leak in Premium Blue Sand Filter conduit

I'm good. A bunch of flex tape seemed to do the trick for now.

Help! Leak in Premium Blue Sand Filter conduit

Hi All. This year when starting the the filter I'm noticing a leak between "to pool" elbow at the top of the filter, and the straight piece with the small piece jutting out. (See video). I don't even know how these two are connected. I tried turing the straight piece with a large wrench and...

Question on fill above deck footings

It's a prefabricated steel/resin deck. It was completely built, then set in place, as opposed to building from the ground up. The instructions specifically say to not cut the posts, but instead bury below ground until you have the proper deck height. The instructions also say to just set the...

Question on fill above deck footings

May do the river rock. I have that around the pool as well.

Footing options for pool deck with posts within 1-foot of pool wall

Yes, he meant a full trench across, but it still had to be 4-ft deep and 12-inches wide...so I don't know how that would have helped my situation by making an even bigger hole that would have undermined the pool. :cautious:

Question on fill above deck footings

See photo below. We just installed a prefabricated deck, and the top of the back footings ended up a few inches below grade. I'm wondering what would be an appropriate backfill. I'd want to keep access to the footing brackets if needed in the future, so maybe lay fabric over than backfill...

Footing options for pool deck with posts within 1-foot of pool wall

I realize I didn't respond to this one at all. I convinced the inspector to allow me to use a concrete block under the posts, instead of footings, for the posts adjacent to the pool. Which is good since a couple of the posts ended up a few inches from the pool itself. And there's also...
