New Pool owner in New Zealand

I was going on Pool Maths that seem to suggest my FC to be 3.0 to 7.0 and defaulted 4.0 into the target field. I have altered the target to 5.0 for now. So need to add 26 fl oz of Chlorine today.

Hi Flying Tivo. I am using Metric within the App but I know most people on here are from the US so I thought it best to use imperial measurements for when I post :-)

New Pool owner in New Zealand

Reading today after adding some CH. I added 4lb 6oz of CH and this should have added 20 points to the reading according to the instructions on the pack. CYA <35 (that is lowest the test shows) FC=3.5 CC=0.5 pH=7.6 TA=70 CH=125 CSI = -0.48 Temperature was 79. So the CH is slightly higher...

New Pool owner in New Zealand

Hi bmoreswim The problem I have with the FC test is trying to accurately measure the powder. I am using the CCL test kit. It says a heaped spoon (which they supply). I think the size of the "heap" varies day to day. I wish they had a slightly larger spoon so that you could have a flat spoonful...

New Pool owner in New Zealand

Tests for yesterday and this morning I did the morning test for the OCLT CYA=<35 (The amount of water in the test does not allow for it to show a lower reading than 35) FC=7 CC=0 pH=7.4 TA=80 cH=100 Morning reading FC=7.5 As I assume the FC cannot go up then I am putting the small increase...

New Pool owner in New Zealand

Thanks Texas Splash Yes the water is very clear and I can see anything on the bottom. The pool never looks really really clear as it is not painted a nice bright blue but is an old light grey. I hope to paint the pool next spring if I have the budget. I really hope to get the OCLT done this...

Very old sand filter, do I bother to repair leaks

Hi JamesW I'm pretty certain it was not installed in 2009 as I know the previous owners and it was pre them buying the property in 2009. The house was built in 1986 so my guess would be 1989 for the pool being done. I have found an aerial photo of the property from 2001 that shows the pool...

Very old sand filter, do I bother to repair leaks

I do not know when the sand was last replaced. I can imagine several years ago. I have seen a video on how to replace the sand and wondfering if when I take the multiport valve of that I need to replace any o-rings to be safe.

Very old sand filter, do I bother to repair leaks

I have managed to get a photo of the main leak. I hope the jet of water is clear enough. It is coming from a crack near the pressure guage, my neighbour as a short term fix is going to use a soldering iron to melt the plastic and then cover with some epoxy resin. The main leak seems to be a...
