Pool Stain Help - Ascorbic vs Muratic? What am I looking at?

Welcome to TFP! Your pictures didn’t make it. Organic stains will be cleared by chlorine. Ascorbic acid is most beneficial in the case of iron staining. For stain removal, muriatic acid is primarily used to etch away a surface layer to expose new material underneath. Check out Stains in Your...

    Help!

So I see that Chuck had a good test kit. A TF Pro, which should be great for getting the info you need.

    Help!

Yes, you can measure the salt. I found Chuck’s account, so I’m reading through some of his info to learn about your pool and equipment. I’m sure it seems overwhelming, but it’s very simple once you get the basics down.

    Help!

Welcome to TFP, Ronda. Very sorry for your loss. Free chlorine is the important one. You can add bleach or liquid chlorine to jump start it. You’ll also likely need cyanuric acid and salt to get your chlorine generator going.

Water After Overwintering: Reuse or Refill the Pool?

The best thing to do is to follow the SLAM Process using liquid chlorine as the sanitizer. Once you complete that, then you can add stabilizer and salt as needed and resume operating your SWCG.

Water After Overwintering: Reuse or Refill the Pool?

Welcome to TFP! There is rarely a need to replace water in a pool unless there are significant chemical or contaminant issues. Not normal issues. Excess calcium or a flooded pool from high water are the usual rare cases. A pool that is black from algae and decomposition and full of leaves and...

    Secondary systems for health concerns...

Welcome to TFP! While we aren’t qualified to determine whether there is a cancer risk in any scenario, there are some things we do know: Mineral sanitizers do not work to make water safe from pathogens. They can help with algae, but the kill time is far too long for them to be effective...

    Calcium deposits all over pool

Welcome to TFP! How are you getting your test results? A pH of 9.0 is physically nearly impossible in water, and not measurable by any kit you or a pool store would have access to.

Pebble Tec - Salt Water Pool - Stains, Discoloration, Algae - Support/Help Needed

Welcome to TFP! First guess would be iron staining. High chlorine levels can oxidize iron in the water and result in it depositing on pool surfaces. Rubbing with a vitamin C tablet will lighten an iron stain pretty quickly.

    Need info

Welcome to TFP! You don’t want to go with too small or you may regret down the road. I’m not really sure why they are wanting to go with 120V. 240V is needed for many heaters and most pumps will run on 240. Smaller wire too.
