Pool is gobbling chlorine tabs but I have no free chlorine

The water is green -- but clearing somewhat. I have a test kit I bought from you guys last year but frankly, I don't remember where I put it. I'll look for it tomorrow and test with it and report the results. Thanks

Pool is gobbling chlorine tabs but I have no free chlorine

My pool opened this week and my contractor is waiting for the water to clear before vacuuming the bottom. My big problem is that it is eating the 3" chlorine tabs and yet I have no free chlorine. I have a 38,000 gallon 16'x75' pool. All the chemical levels except the free chlorine seem OK...

Use of heater while Ascorbic Acid still in the water

on the test At what point can I start running the water through the heater? There is no FC but the total chlorine is between 1 and 3. I live in NW CT and usually swim all through May and June with the heater but I've lost May and 1/2 of June and am anxious to get it. The water temp is only 69.

Use of heater while Ascorbic Acid still in the water

No, the water is not running through the heater. I have an electric heater - and a Sta-rite system 3 modular media filter. I just did the ascorbic acid for the second time because the first (12 pounds - for my 38,000 gallon pool) did not take out all the stains. But the water is too cloudy to...

    reducing chlorine to 0

I need to do an Ascorbic Acid treatment. My pool company just opened the pool for me and I told them not to add chlorine, but when I tested today the free chlorine level is 2.0. How do I reduce it to 0 so that I can do the AA treatment? It is still too cold to swim in CT so I want to do this...

Yellow stains in my pool - Ascorbic Acid didn't take out all the stains

Thanks for the tip! I'll try that. My crew won't do anything for me sadly and I'm stuck with them. - - - Updated - - - Thanks. I did the full AA treatment last year and did use sequestrant. With 38,000 gallons of water, I'm not about to replace it. I'll live with the discoloration if I...

Yellow stains in my pool - Ascorbic Acid didn't take out all the stains

Last season I used your Ascorbic Acid solution for the yellow stains in my pool after trying an ascorbic acid pill on a small area. It took out most of the stains but not all and the stains returned. I believe it was caused by my pool service crew leaving an Alyn wrench in the shallow end over...

    Yellow stains in vinyl pool

Can anyoone tell me whether there is a maximum amount of ascorbic acid one can add? My pool is 38,000 gallons 16x75 in ground. I've already added 10 pounds and it has only eliminated a fraction of the yellow stains. I'd also like to know how long after adding the ascorbic acid I can reset the...

Re: Yellow stains in vinyl pool

Re: Yellow stains in vinyl pool My situation is similar to Steve32k. I have yellow stains all over the liner. My 16x75 38,000 gallon pool is surrounded by trees, oak, pine, and probably some ash and maple. I thought it was yellow algae and I used Yellow Out and shock per the instructions but...
