This spring I will finally conquer this stain

Spoke with the Jack's Magic rep and he has advised me to keep the PH at 7.2 and apply 1.5 qts (for a 15K pool) to the water and brush frequently. He is currently planning on coming out to check out the progress next week and see what can be done from here. The current thinking is this will help...

This spring I will finally conquer this stain

I have called and emailed Jack's Magic and they told me the "area support rep" would be in touch with me likely in the next 24 hours. Hopefully, he will have some thoughts on the best way to proceed. I would suspect combining with zero alkalinity may be the best idea as the directions do say...

Test 1: Iron, cobalt, and spot etching Test 2: cooper and scaling Both combined got best reaction (number 2 then number 1).

Sorry for the long delay. I had to order the stain ID kit since there were not any locally and then get the chemistry right. So here is where we stand: I elevated the chlorine to about 40ppm and then let it naturally lower over the course of 2 weeks. This lightened the stains, but did not get...

That settles it. I will try that this week before committing to something harmful like zero alkilinity.

I am happy to attempt a stain remover option if you think that is worth it before I go all Dante's Peak and turn my pool into a boat eating lake of acid. Do you think something like Jack's Magic is a better attempt first?

    Nope wasn't that.

I thought that was zero alkalinity? Also, if I use my spot thing with a cup of muriatic acid and leave it on the stain for several minutes it disappears and does not return. See pictures where there are spots without a stain. Those are from leaving a chlorine puck on the stain for like 24 hours...

Ohh good question. I actually think ozonator. It was a long bar on top of my pool controller. It did not pump water through it so I am thinking Ozonator now that you said it?

I can get a picture later today, but there was at one point an ionizer. It was broken when I moved in, so I removed it. This stain has been in the pool as long as I have been here.

Well lucky for me, my heater froze during the Texas government imposed power outage. As such, it is by-passed all together since the parts are unlikely to become available and I have not replaced it. Given this, the metal that I can think of is: 1) Salt cell 2) Pool light 3) Hot tub light 4) The...

This spring I will finally conquer this stain

Yeah, I am not draining my pool this season. Let's see if we can get there on the Jack's Magic. I have run a metal test on the water a couple years ago and there was no real metal in the water. If I had to guess, the previous owners were using some Phosphate remover that they shouldn't have, or...

This spring I will finally conquer this stain

Ended up with enough bleach to reach 41 ppm. While higher than I need to SLAM, I brushed it 4 times last night and once this morning and still looks the same. It doesn't even look lighter. It is supposed to be cloudy today so I would expect the chlorine levels to remain high for a while. I will...

This spring I will finally conquer this stain

Will do. I have been over 10 ppm for 4 days and haven't seen a change. I am hoping that pushing it this much higher and adding a lot of brushing will result in goodness. If it doesn't, I am out less than $40 (Walmart bleach was on sale) and on the plus side, I didn't have to go wait in the...

This spring I will finally conquer this stain

Well I just poured in all the bleach I had left. It should put me at close to 50ppm on Chlorine. I am going to run the pump for a half hour to stir and then shut it down, check the FC, and brush it. I will brush it every couple hours until bed. Then let it settle over night and then in the...
