    Iron stains

Thought I would close out this thread with an update. We opened the pool, drained it, lightly power washed and refilled. Nice “new” water, which of course is very very old! Replaced our SWG cell and filters. Tomorrow we will add 400 pounds of salt, cya and then rebalance. Pool looks great!

    Iron stains

After dealing with high phosphates and iron…i think we will close the pool as we always do, follow-up iron treatment in spring as needed, drain and refill. Water is cheap here bc we have a septic system and don't have to pay the WWTP surcharges.

    Iron stains

Sequestrant: Pro Team Metal Magic Pool is crystal clear this morning after running 24 hours on low. We will be sure to pass the overnight chlorine test before we close the pool in a few weeks. I read it can take a week or more to clear the ascorbic and citric acids we used.

Oh, its 10% chlorine from Home Depot, I shouldn't have been so imprecise on this forum :)

    Iron stains

Did not add an algicide. I moved FC to 3 this morning with chlorox and have the swg running at 30%. Other than chlorine, everything is holding steady. Update: it is solid material like dust — we realized this when we brushed the pool. I think the filters should pick it up eventually!

    Iron stains

Something has gone wrong —pool is “milky”. AM chlorine reading was 1.5 (added 2 cups chl) PH 7.2, everything else in range. Afternoon pH and chl readings were same. Only difference is we started the SW generator about 2 hours ago. The robot is fuzzy, can’t see bottom drains at all. …no...

    Iron stains

Not sure where to post this, but here goes. After 9 years, our pool was staining. Walls, floor, sunshelf. Iron stains. We followed the TFP protocol as we saw it: 1. Slammed the pool (first time in 9 years!) Took chlorine pretty high in case mustard algae was staining the pool 2. Reduced...

    Gizzmo

Hey all, do you have opinions on Gizzmos in the skimmer baskets instead of draining the pool below the skimmer basket? My husband picked these up at the recommendation of a friend to reduce the pressure on the pool cover. I am a little skeptical. What do you think?

    Yet Another Dolphin Thread

I just had top-notch service from Marina. Are you considering the different time zones when you call? Also, the S300i is terrific (after using for one day -- ha!). It even ventured briefly onto the sun shelf.

Just ordered a s300i from Marina. I didn't think to ask if it was a 2018 with the swivel cord -- I guess I will find out when it it delivered tomorrow! Thanks, TFP members for always having the answers to my questions (like what robot to get) when I have them!

    Recent Builder Advice

I learned so much designing my pool from this forum. My takeaway lessons, in no particular order: Test your own water and avail yourself of TFP's tools -- my water is always perfect -- THANK YOU!!! Sun shelf at 12" is too deep -- I'd go 9" or less You don't need step-outs on your perimeter...

I'm gonna let it go green

My son was in college (Biology) when we got our test kit magnetic stirrer << he was amused. I LOVE the stirrer, personally!
