    Spring Texas, Construction Progress

I second the surge protector as a must in the South. Lightning took out my first almost new 2-speed pump. Couldn't even be rebuilt-fried the motor. I now have a VS, and do prefer it over the 2-speed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Quartzscape Tahoe Blue - Poor mixing/application or sun fading?

I have a different brand of blue quartz (Finest Finish Sparkle Quartz in Laguna) that was plastered only a week ago. I see some color variation, but not as bad as your pics. The mix plus how it was filled could both affect this. Also -- beware of the autofill when they plaster. They hosed...

    What's your current pool temp?

Here in Dripping Springs TX (west of Austin) we're already at 80F water. Mild temps outside so far, but we don't have any shade.

Pictures of Salt Water flagstone or coping damage?

I'll look for pictures, but I had problems with Arizona Flagstone that appeared to be damaged by the salt water. Nearly all of it appears to have eroded, with one stone loosing the entire top surface in about 3 years. We've since sold that house/pool so I'll have to look for some old photos...

    Re-introduction

I joined in 2009 when our first pool was built. Had been experienced in pool maintenance (worked for a service company for 2 years while in college), but was new to salt water. Learned a lot on this forum and received some great help. We sold that house 2 years ago, and the pool and...

First Review - Dupont Stone-Tech Saltwater Resistant Sealer

Our first pool was salt water with Arizona flagstone coping. We didn't seal it, and there was a lot of erosion/damage to the flagstone with nearly constant sand deposits into pool that needed regular cleaning. I'd estimate the coping will need to be replaced at some point. This is the big...

First Review - Dupont Stone-Tech Saltwater Resistant Sealer

I'm curious how this product is holding up after nearly a couple of years. Have you noticed any erosion or flaking of the stone?

Power surge took out my pump?

I tried to figure out where the switch was located, but I was told that my 2hp 2-speed original pump was significantly oversized for my pool and filter size so I stopped working on that. I have a 1HP 2-speed replacement motor on order. Thinking a about replacing the circuit breaker with one...

Power surge took out my pump?

I should have mentioned that I can reach in and turn the pump freely -- not jammed at all.

Power surge took out my pump?

After a series of lightning storms my Hayward TriStar pump no longer runs. It hums for awhile, and shuts off -- I was told it's a classic starter capacitor problem. Tried replacing the cap with a new one that had the exact same specs -- didn't fix it. Called a service company that did the...

Anyone try the wireless ePool monitoring system?

Yea. I was really interested in the wireless temp, but the pH reading caught my eye. I don't expect it to be very accurate, but if it would still be useful if was like my truck speedometer -- always off, but by the same amount. Something to warn me to get off my lazy .... and go test the water.

Anyone try the wireless ePool monitoring system?

Interesting. I tried searching within the forum before posting this question, and it didn't find anything. Still doesn't. The google search below redirects back to some old TFP postings on the subject. Looks like a couple of people have tried this, with frustrating results.

Anyone try the wireless ePool monitoring system?

At the risk of being beaten senseless with everyone's TF-100 test kit boxes, I was wondering -- anyone try the ePool wireless chemical monitoring system that Leslie's sells? I'm not looking for it as a test kit replacement, or something to tell my how much acid to add. More as a wireless...

    opinions please

I think it depends if your mind thinks like an engineer or an artist. We had similar decisions to make last year when we built our IG pool. I tend to think practical and in straight lines (engineer). My wife has an eye for artistic design. I love the way the curvy decking turned out. So...

    Polaris 360 problem

Scott -- plenty of slack on the hose, it's just out of the picture. Paul -- you nailed it. It wasn't going up the wall at all. Screen was clear. I marked the wheel and counted rotations, and only got about 13 revolutions per minute instead of the 23-32 RPM's it needs to operate. Found the...
