    Unexpected foam on pool

I believe it's the bleach. The only kind of bleach one can buy at Walmart/Lowes/Amazon is splash-less bleach. Slamming is not a viable option. All my bleach is splash less. And there is no way I will pay $20+a gallon for regular bleach. I believe the splash less has undisclosed chemicals with...

    Unexpected foam on pool

Last week, my water was getting a little green (algae bloom). I shocked it (not SLAM). The next day i added initial algaecide treatment (HTH Algae Guard) I then swept it and tested and PH was 7.5, Alkalinity 100, FC 0.0 Added bleach to raise FC. (test strips) I have to add bleach every day...

Is it normal to be chasing chlorine every day?

yes. Thursday evening I added shock (HTH Shock & Swim) to my pool to burn out the CC because "Jesse Schmidt" above recommended "slamming" to lower my CC reading. Most of the industry call a quicker, similar, solution shocking. By shocking my CC fell to 0.6. As per my above comment my FC was...

Is it normal to be chasing chlorine every day?

Last night, I shocked my pool. This morning after making sure all the shock was dissolved I ran a test of the chlorine levels withe the Taylor K-2006. my chlorine level was still 7.2 (left over from the shock). I thought that was pretty high, so i double checked with a another (K-2006) test...

Is it normal to be chasing chlorine every day?

Not to beat a dead horse, but even Taylor says in their manual, for a quick test use (their) test strips. I test every day. And if I added Clorox or something I test twice. If I was to use Taylor every time I test I would go broke buying reagent. Not to mention my pool would be all test and...

Is it normal to be chasing chlorine every day?

I don't want to start an argument /debate but if I'm getting a 1 reading with the strips and a 1 reading with the Taylor kit why are the test strips useless? I realize the test strips won't show CC levels or TC levels but isn't the FC the most important on a daily basis.

Is it normal to be chasing chlorine every day?

Is it normal to be chasing chlorine every day? Yesterday i checked chlorine levels after topping off the pool level, first with hth test strips and followup with hth test kit (water sample,,,add drops, etc) It tested out at 1.0 on the kit and 1 on the test strips. Per the Pool Math table, I...

    how much clorox to add

I ordered a Taylor 2006 kit. It should be here by the middle of the week. In the mean time I keep whittling away at the ph and fc with test strips. (HTH) At the present the fc is between 3 and 4 ppm and the ph is between 7.2 and 7.5. I guess my next question is what to do with the floating...

    how much clorox to add

Actually i want to go to 3 but i wanted to see the graduation. So 13 - 14 oz will raise my pool 1 pt on fc. While i got your attention my PH was between 6.8 and 7.2. My TA was between 40 and 80. My CYA was 30 - 50. I haven't ever used liquid chlorine or borax or baking soda. I've only had the...

    how much clorox to add

I need to know how much liquid chlorine (Clorox) to add to raise my 8200 -8500 gal round above ground pool from FC of 1 to 2. I have the floating pucks. they don't seem to be doing the trick. That reading is from a test strip (HTH) with a count of "one tennessee, two...etc". I will be...
