    Another Trouble Free Opening!

Actually it's 3 years old. Julian Date is 19107, so April 17, 2019. It's been in the basement this whole time (mid-60s and dark), but honestly, I didn't expect much. But there appears to be something left in there. At any rate, there's only 3 bottles left, so whether it's good or not...

    Another Trouble Free Opening!

Until this past weekend it's been horribly cold in the Chicago area, so we just now did our opening. The cover came off Saturday afternoon (unfortunately dumping a bunch of spiny seeds and algae into one end in the process) and we started filling. After taking a break overnight, the fill was...

    Looking for recommendation on SWG

To be fair, you don't need an SWG to have an excuse to dump salt in your pool. :) But I agree it does feel awesome, and I would never go back. @WannaPool my pool is just a touch smaller than yours (about 11k gallons), and this will be my third season with a Circupool Edge 25. Absolutely...

    Overlap vs Unibead liners? Help!!

If I understand unibead liners correctly, #2 is not a valid reason to avoid them, as long as you don't install by tearing off the top bead and installing them in a j-hook rail, where the liner doesn't quite reach the top of the wall. Even then, I would expect excess water to leak out the top of...

Who’s getting ready for the next season?!

Yes it does. My new pool arrived 2 weeks ago, and will remain on its pallet in my garage until March/April when it's time to install.

Best AGP for freezing Michigan Steel vs. Resin

I did wind up buying the Saltwater 8000, it's currently sitting on a pallet in my garage. Decided on it over the Aurora because of Chicago winters. Might be a complete overreaction on my part. I'm not at all concerned about my 3500 ppm salt destroying the walls of the Saltwater 8000.

Best AGP for freezing Michigan Steel vs. Resin

There are fully-resin pools available. Here is one of the pools I've been considering, in a similar climate as OP so I'm quite interested in this discussion: https://www.thepoolfactory.com/saltwater-aurora-15x30x54-oval.html There are no steel parts other than the stainless skimmer/return...

    considering swg

Running (and holding) your CYA a little higher (like maybe 50) would go a long way towards reducing the amount of futzing you have to do. Not saying that means switch to stabilized chlorine for regular care, but to put things in perspective, my CYA target in Chicago was 40 before I installed...

Recommended pool installer in Chicago area?

Thanks! I'll look into those recommendations. Avenger, reaching out to you.

Recommended pool installer in Chicago area?

Yeah no worries, I figured it'd been a week, so best to bump before I wound up on page 3. :)

Recommended pool installer in Chicago area?

Really, nobody in the Chicago suburbs has a pool installer they're happy with?
