Since you are in Houston I can recommend to go get a 55 lb bag at AAA chemicals. It was 70$ and that amount should be about perfect for your pool size. I did it and I am very pleased with the result. You will want to call in advance - the place can seem a little disorganized if you just show up...

We use swim shirts for the kids all the time and try to limit the time outside between 11 AM and 3 PM. The sun is so much stronger in that period. We still use a little SPF 50 on their noses and cheeks but that's it - and they have very light skin...... This way we also avoid lots of sun screen...

OK, I shot a few pictures this afternoon and just now after dark. We looked at many pools before we decided and the final two were Ocean Blue and Prism Blue. They are very close but Ocean Blue seem a bit more gray in the shallow water. Blue Granite seemed very gray and frankly a bit boring...

Did you make sure to wipe the bottle tip when counting drops for TA? My first TA analyses were also very high until I also followed that little bit of advice. The drops became bigger and the TA number smaller.....

Thanks, stipoolnoob. We are enjoying it every night after work. The kids love it but DW still thinks it is too cold - only 85F..... Maybe August in Houston will be warm enough for her - otherwise I foresee getting a huge gas bill over the summer.... :roll:

Re: Friendswood pool build - We made it.... Finally there :-D We filled the pool two weeks ago. It took 16 hours through 3 hoses. The kids jumped in the pool the first day and we have been swimming every night since then. The temperature quickly made it above 80F which is very comfortable...
