Thanks for your feed back. I am willing to create another version if you can give me feed back on a better design. I can typically get a prototype
within 2 weeks and a production version within a month. If you used the silicone adapter I definitely want feedback.
I added a discount code you can use on our website for any item purchased for 7% off, free USA shipping, and no sales tax. I get a lot of referrals and appreciate the business from this website so the code at checkout is TFP7
We made a replacement light with adapter to fit the proprietary niche. Lights are here and adapter is below. We include the adapter for free if you ask...
12v as the transformer is external. when you switch from 120 to 12 it generates heat. external vents to atmosphere, internal gets trapped inside light and runs hot which makes board fail faster.
the tank body is probably fibreglass. you are better off replacing that part as any glue or epoxy would be temporary at best. Use a fibreglass rated glue (fibreglass resin) from your local hardware store. It has to chemically bond/melt to the filter in order to work.
I started with a solar blanket. Then rigged up 200+ ft of black hose fed with a small pump. A small solar panel powered the pump. 90+% of heat is lost at night, so put the cover back on before bed.
There is zero difference between 12 and 120 volt light housings. Same Edison style E26 screw base. 120V systems are illegal in many parts of the country for a reason. If you already have 12v stick with it. Do the disconnect the ground wire test first.
