I had the same problem a few years ago, cleaning the chlorine test tube worked. It drove me crazy until I figured that out. Now I just get a new tube every year.

Wow, this is what 50 looks like? I have been reading my tests wrong for 8 years now because I consider this photo as "still being able to see the dot". I would have added more to make "my" reading lower than what it actually is.
