Argh! Need help with Travertine step issue on deck

I have tried to post pics in other threads and I haven't been able to get it to work. Maybe there is a how to thread that is easier than the one I tried? I would be taking the pics on a phone.

Argh! Need help with Travertine step issue on deck

Our patio is on two levels. Part of it is about 6" higher than the other part and so there is a step. We had travertine pavers installed in a Versailles pattern. When I talked with the PB, he said that the step (which is very wide-about 19' on one side of the patio and 15' on the other side of...

Need Help Fast! Question re Travertine decking caps versus pavers

Thanks for the pics. I decided that the tiles would be better than pavers because it's probably not a good idea to raise the floor that much. Then rugs by the door might be a problem, etc.

Need Help Fast! Question re Travertine decking caps versus pavers

The deck is a mess right now because they're working on it so I don't think pictures would be useful. My questions are general anyway. Pics wouldn't help on the travertine matching question since I don't have the tiles yet so I can't compare them. And the other question is whether pavers (being...

Need Help Fast! Question re Travertine decking caps versus pavers

We have an existing concrete patio and then a new extension to the patio we are putting in. The new extension is right next to the existing patio, but it's stepped down. The PB said they would cap the concrete patio with travertine tile and the pavers would be on the new decking (which won't...

    Chiller/Heater Worth It?

We were discussing heater/chillers with our PB and he said that if we wanted to swim in the winter, it would be cheaper to keep it heated by a chiller/heater system because they are electric and therefore much cheaper to run. He said they aren't good for heating up a pool very quickly but they...

    Travertine Pavers

Your deck is gorgeous! Yes, it will definitely be tumbled travertine. I was leaning toward the squares, but the idea that they move around more makes me rethink that. I definitely want it to be tightly interlocked. Anyone else have knowledge of these different patterns and how they differ this way?

    Travertine Pavers

Our deck will be travertine pavers. I am trying to decide between the Versailles pattern or just regular squares. Our PB said that the Versailles pattern interlocks better and moves around less. I'm not sure if this is true, but I guess it could be a possibility because there are smaller tiles...

Question re Coping around a Spa

I've noticed in many spas that I've been in, the coping around the spa mimics the coping around the pool in that it hangs over the edge about an inch or so. So basically the coping sticks out over the wall and pokes you in the back when you're sitting in the spa and leaning against the wall. It...

DFW Texas Pool & Spa Build (Round 2)

Thank you! You helped explain the robotic cleaners. Sounds like the robot is the one to keep. I am going to check into the nichless lights. We did regular chlorine, not SWG, since we have tons of stone around the pool and deck. I think they've already installed the ozone (they've put in all the...

New Pool w/ Falls & Slide in Baton Rouge, LA

OP, do you happen to know how tall your steps to the slide are? I posted in another thread that our steps were just built and they are 12" each. I'm trying to see what is standard.

DFW Texas Pool & Spa Build (Round 2)

This thread has been a wealth of information, but it's LONG and I have a few questions that I didn't see answered in the thread: 1. When you say robotic cleaners, are these both considered robotic cleaners? We ordered the first one (polaris robot 550) but am considering trading it in for the...

    12" steps to slide?

We have a pool and slide under construction. The stone steps to the pool slide have been made to be 12" steps. The stone guys did that without asking us but just looked at a good place for a stopping point and then calculated the steps and it worked out to 12". There is actually plenty of room...

    Help! Problems with Pool Build

You are correct that they built what they are used to because that's how the mistakes happened. They were used to things being a certain size, and they made them so despite the plans. You are incorrect that I didn't complain. I have brought the incorrect items up as soon as I noticed them, but...

    Help! Problems with Pool Build

My pool was started 4 months ago. There were lots of weather delays, so construction has been VERY slow. It has been gunited and the stonework is partially done. A slide was just installed, and as we were looking at the slide and the plans, we noticed that the pool design was not followed and...
