    SWG bit the dust

I had a SWG when I first had our pool installed. After the second time it quit working (maybe 4-5 years) I started using granulated trichlor which worked well until the stabilizer level got too high. That is when I found TFP and learned to manage the water correctly. I have been very happy using...

How long is swimming season in Central Florida? Should I build now?

Waiting until June to swim in Tampa? I've been swimming for two weeks in East TN with no heater (although I do use a solar blanket) it's brisk, though.

    Tab usage

Re: Trichlor tablets can work Moderator note - Moved from here: Trichlor tablets can work - Page 2 I hope this is an appropriate thread in which to add this question. I have exclusively used the TFP method this year for my pool maintenance. After the initial SLAM it has been crystal clear and...

    A question about pH.

I have read here that a free chlorine level above 10ppm will render your pH test inaccurate. I usually test for chlorine and pH twice daily. I add 8.25% Clorox in the evening, shooting for 7.5 to 8.0 ppm. I have noticed that when I test in the morning (when the free chlorine is 7.5 to 8.0 ppm)...

How do you test for sulfate levels?

Thank you, smackdab, for your reply. I think, maybe, your suggestion to try the 14.5 MA is a good one. In what ways do I need to "watch what your doing with it"?

How do you test for sulfate levels?

It's very easy to use dry acid and I'm a little nervous about muriatic acid because of the comments I have seen here about fumes, etc. I started using liquid chlorine last year after understanding the disadvantages of using dichlor, triclor and calcium hypochlorite. I just want to find out if...

How do you test for sulfate levels?

How do you test for sulfate levels? Is the sulfate level likely to get high using dry acid to decrease pH using liquid chlorine following TFP guidelines?

    Speedstir Magnetic stirrer

I just bought one of these and all I can say is WOW! If you're on the fence about it, do yourself a favor and get one. It's handier than pockets on pants.

What's all this talk about closing?

It was about 65°F and cloudy in East TN today. I still went swimming. It was hummm...brisk!
