    Chemical mystery

Thank you for your feedback. I will post pictures tomorrow with better detail but for now I can tell you we do not cover the pool, we have not had any toys in the pool for about 4 months now and they were soaked and scrubbed in a diluted chlorine solution, we have a net skimmer, an 8 foot pool...

    Chemical mystery

Thank you for the reply. I only maintain MA FC for 24 hours and let the level gradually come back down to normal range, which for me is 4-9 ppm (CYA 55) according to Pool Math and I always stay at the high end, and usually a little higher in the summer due to the extreme heat in Florida. In...

    Chemical mystery

Hi again, so I have completed my SLAM and MA SLAM after meeting all of the criteria but it is back and seems much worse than before, like I just made it angry. I cannot understand what I am missing. I have hand scrubbed the stairs with a chlorine/water solution, scrubbed any creases in the...

    Chemical mystery

Thank you for that. I removed the stairs and cleaned them by hand with a diluted chlorine solution but there are so many crevices It is hard to imagine I was able to get every bit of it. I do have some small creases in my liner but I feel like I am pretty good at scrubbing those.

    Chemical mystery

Hi Marty and thank you for the response. I can't believe I missed the algae clouds in my rush to get to mustard SLAM. At this point will I need to restart the initial SLAM process or is there a way to defeat the MA with these high chlorine levels?

    Chemical mystery

Hey everyone, I am having an issue with what I suspect is mustard algae. This is the 2nd time, maybe 3rd, that I have had a return of this invader. Both times I have followed SLAM procedure and moved on to the Mustard SLAM FC levels. I am diligent about doing my chemical testing and adding...

    FC not reading properly?

Good to know. I think all the dead algae is what had us tripped up because we kept thinking it was live algae and most likely that was mustard algae to boot. The pool looks great today so hopefully with more careful monitoring it’ll stay that way. We’ll be draining and refilling later next month...

    FC not reading properly?

Thank you for the reply. All of what you’re saying makes sense. I’m new to proper pool care so I’ve been playing catch up for the last 2 months with the TFP method getting everything balanced finally. In May I had negative alkalinity, PH that I couldn’t even get a read on because it was so low...

    FC not reading properly?

Thanks for replying. Up close it definitely doesn’t look those colors. When I looked at it up close underwater with my goggles on it looked and moved more like dirt or sand. It typically gathers about 4-5 feet from the intake and isn’t always in the shade but seems to gather in the same place...

    FC not reading properly?

Hi James, I attached 3 images of the stuff I am seeing in my pool and was hoping you could give me your feedback. The spots often appear in the crevices as I am sure you know, and I also collected some in a jar and took a close up. To me it looks like grains of sand but who knows. I will see if...

    FC not reading properly?

Thank you James. I couldn't get a clear picture today so while cleaning this morning I put on my goggles and went down to the spots on the bottom and they were clearly sand. I felt them and they were grainy and when disturbed you can clearly see the sand grains floating off. I have not actually...
