So, did you ever find out where it was? I had one once, turned out to be the Oring for the handle of the intake valve that is used to choose between SPA and Pool input. An easy fix, but had me scratching my head for a while.

Jim, The ultimate goal is to communicate with the pump from a Raspberry Pi. I have a USB to rs485 adapter dongle. I do not currently have the official pentair cable, so I was going to create a prototype connection while I get things set up.

Allen, Thanks for your reply. If I am understanding this correctly, the diagram is showing the cable side of the connection, so at the pump side the rightmost pin is D- and the bottom pin is D+, am I getting that correctly?
