Pump stays in prime mode after DE filter clean

See water coming through pool returns in filter mode. Things buttoned up for freeze tonight, so will try to compare what's there in Recirc vs Filter modes while priming this weekend.

Pump stays in prime mode after DE filter clean

Pics from when I was building pad. Tan pipes are drain line with a clear, viewing pipe on bottom left; Jandy is at bottom of filter. MPV is the proper Pentair one for a Quad DE filter, installed summer 2020.

Pump stays in prime mode after DE filter clean

Circulation was slow when in Filter mode, so time to clean the filter. Afterwards, pump remains in prime mode and finally does an auto shut down. Only things that I touched were cleaning strainer, turning the Jandy valve at filter drain and the filter. Strainer seal not a problem 'cause in...

Reviving out of service pool: FG & deck Refresh

Looks my method of cleaning the skimmer is working ok for me. Water too cold now for SWG to work, so going to delay bringing the salt level up completely. Going into a winter-maint mode, hopefully without the TX freeze angst again. Next projects will be outside kitchen and solar panels for...

Don't you worry about the basket breaking?

Reviving out of service pool: FG & deck Refresh

I had better luck with the skimmer today. Opened the lid, had the pvc hook for the basket ready, then went over to turn off the pump. Fortunately there's a slight delay with the IntelliCenter before the pump actually quits and I was able to scurry back to the skimmer just in time to hook the...

16 July 2024 Finishing Up my OB Pool

Baby steps, but even those will get you there eventually. :)

Reviving out of service pool: FG & deck Refresh

Skimmer wasn't even 1/4 full and just was a major pain to empty. Gee, sure seems like my 40-year old skimmer had "advanced" design issues that the new ones lack. And it held more leaves. So dissappointing.

Reviving out of service pool: FG & deck Refresh

I made a pvc hook that I used for my old basket, so have the no bending covered IF I can keep the leaves in the basket. Will try the spin. (y)

That might keep the basket in place, but I don't see how that keeps the leaves in the basket - they float and the skimmer "cavity" is much larger than the diameter of the basket so lifting the basket leaves half of the accumlated leaves behind including those hiding behind the weir door.

Reviving out of service pool: FG & deck Refresh

Pool filled, took about 35 hr. Now to the chem stuff. Couldn't find liquid Stabilizer, so forced to use granular. Man do I hate that forever-to-dissolve stuff. :pth: Cleaned new skimmer for the first time. Old one had a solid floating inner ring that kept the leaves in the basket when the...

    Big Leak, I think

I had a leak in the pool niche, so I added a temp skimmer bypass, the white pipe turning left Turned off skimmer using a Jandy valve, so water drawn from the pool would be from main & this bypass. This way I could still run the pool equipment after letting the water level drop to where it...

Reviving out of service pool: FG & deck Refresh

Nope. Slippery sloped sides + pool depth = couldn't reach. The pool is 8-1/2 ft deep. I'd be in for the duration ... or at least until hubby got hungry. :ROFLMAO: --------------- Since this thread has climbed to the size of a James Michener novel, added some navigation links to the first page.

4-1/2 hrs later See what I mean about texture difference on the pool deck? You definitely can see the patches. Will have to decide if I can live with it as is. Hopefully this excursion can answer someone's future questions about what is involved with a fiberglass pool refinish. (y)
