I got it stupid cheap guage i tapped on it a couple of times and it went rite back to 11

OK I got confused I was thinking borates and called it bromine . What affect does adding borates have on the water.

So is bromine something you add to your pool in addition to chlorine or is it a chlorine substitute? My water has been crystal clear since day one my levels are all stable and would like to add bromine to my water if it will help the feel of the water and the look.
