    Velvet-up

Apparently I do not, yet, have access to a Data Sheet about this product. The Formal MSDS might not even be needed as the product is not intended for use in the United States. I'll be back as soon as I can ((read: if)) with additionnal infos. Thanks anyways.

    Velvet-up

A not-so-quick question: Our company just received a product called Velvet-Up, under our own Brandname. Here's the label: ----- ''This innovative product makes spa water crystal clear. Velvet-Up has been specially formulated to provide a feeling of well-being to the skin. the Velvet-Up does...

Please help me choose a pool surface type...

We only sell Vinyl here, but: - Tend to be smaller: You have dimensions in mind. They can't make it, too bad for them. - Locked into styles that they sell: Kidney and Oval are pretty standard, and make looking for a cover that much easier. - Lifting out and small cracks: Go see some of the...

Practices in a Pool Store (Piercing the veil of ignorance)

PH Buffer might have been the cause. If it was added, it could have precipitated the calcium... So there must have been an higher occurence of backwashes needs. Got it. Gonna ask a few questions to my customer. I'll avoid using the word ''Phosphate'', if I can, however. Thanks. Will follow...

Practices in a Pool Store (Piercing the veil of ignorance)

Okay, I got a new one. One of my ''customers'' who is also in the industry, came up with a strange occurence. Pool is 30'x55', 14' deep, 173000 gallons, pool from 1950 PH: 7,6 Alc: 80 Cya: About 100 or a bit more Ch: 3.0 CH: 80 CH is unreliable. Tested by drops. Often read 0. Pool is NOT on...

    Closing question!

Covers are completely optionnal. But: -What they do not catch, you'll have to scrap it from the bottom. Depending on your backyard setup, this may or may not include pets. There are gadgets that can be installed that will allow them to climb out. I know this is somewhat grim, but worth being...

Phosphates can be a serious problem

Sounds either like a whole neighborhood using chlorine tabs / phosfree or someone who actually tries to help his customers. Before I found TFP I could have said exactly the same, which few poolowners would.

    Chlorine Scaling?

Ask to see the manager. Most of these kids are well intended, and kept a bit in blissful ignorance. That way they can be ''honest'' without actually telling the truth. It is a modus Operandi through the industry, not something done on purpose. You accepted to be serviced by a 10$ an hour kid.

Murky water at opening...anyway to prevent this at closing?

** Also, put your Sand Filter on the function ''winterize'' to protect the diverter ''gasket'' inside it. If you don't have that function, leave it in between two functions.

What cell phone service do you have

8-) A New Challenger Appears! 8-) Service provider: Bell (http://www.bell.ca/home/) Phone: Sanyo SCP-7050 (or so the phone itself says) I barely even use mine as a phone. More like a page/calculator. I tolerate it's existence for my employer is the only one with its number and the one...

Murky water at opening...anyway to prevent this at closing?

Disconnect the pump. Connect the blower into the pipe going to the skimmer. Blow the line. Plug the skimmer's entrance. The same can be done for your returns. If you have more than one skimmer/return, plug them as they bubble out. This will cause the air blown to need another exit, blowing...

    Chlorine Scaling?

Trust yourself. You have legit reasons not to trust the stores (at least when chemicals are concerned). There are ways to test what the deposit is, if you can get a sample. Test it with MA, if it reacts it is calcium carbonate. Solution is to keep PH/Alcalinity lower to couterbalance, partial...

Please help to to re-assemble my Hayward DE filter!

You may have some problems keeping the pool 100% clear (as in small particles will remain aloft in the water), but not filtering for a few days is not an health hazard. Keep an eye on Chlorine/CYA to keep water disinfected as usual and it should be ok.

Phosphates can be a serious problem

Don't blame Mike. Until recently, whenever a customer had a green pool problem, the blame went onto Orthophosphates (or algeas stuck on god-mode). It's not the pucks that greatlt overstabilized your pool (who does the CYA test anyways), not you who forgot to put in chlorine in your pool, it's...
