That looks like another great option. My goal is simplicity and reliability. I don't need it to do much at all...

    Automation on a budget

That's a great possibility for me @chiefwej . Anything low-cost and simple will work. I need to turn on the heater and have the pool heat to a specified temp. I also want to see the pool temp on my phone. That's it!

    Automation on a budget

Thank you @Katodude - The price for all the components looks to be close to something like the HeaterReader. But without the installation and assembly. I will look into this more...

    Automation on a budget

Hello, I am interested in hearing recommendations for a pool automation system that does the following; - iPhone (app) based control and monitoring of; - Display pool temperature - Turn pump on/off (Control Hayward VS Pump (anything from basic on/off to running preset speeds would suffice)) -...

Softub New Liner Smells and Excess Foam

It was just a matter of using what I had on hand.

Softub New Liner Smells and Excess Foam

Thanks Kim, This was a new liner on an old tub. The liner came from the factory and was installed at a little local shop. They would have used tap water to fill and test at the shop, and I went and picked it up when they were done. The tub smelled normal for a couple of months.

Softub New Liner Smells and Excess Foam

I recently had a brand new vinyl liner put on an old Softub (September). For a while everything was normal, but after a couple of months a smell started to develop in the water that has got stronger still. It's a powerful vinyl/plastic-y sort of smell. I can smell it on my skin hours after a...

Anyone have an inflatable hot tub that's more than 2 years old?

I went down this same path for pretty much the same reasons a few years ago. Didn't want to spend a bundle to find out if we would use a hot tub or not. The plan was to use it four seasons including freezing winter temps. I bought an inflatable for $800 (CDN). Worked great but was kind of...

I created an App to control pool equipment with smartphone

At this point I would settle for controlling my Hayward SuperPump on/off and speeds from the control interface and a phone app/webpage. I found a SuperPump guide buried in the docs that came with the pump. If I could figure out how to fit 2 pics into my 250k limit (???) I would post the...

Bromine Pool with Failing Brominator - Using Bleach as Sanitizer Instead

Update on this thread: I have been running chlorine pucks now for weeks in my Hayward feeder and the pool chemistry is perfect. I returned what was left of the bromine pucks to the pool store (3/4 of a bucket - about 12 Kg) Glad to know I'm not going insane! I've never seen pucks that don't...

Mixing Bromine Spa Into Chlorine Pool

    That’s what I’m thinking! But since I don’t know what I’m talking about I thought I should ask [emoji16]

Mixing Bromine Spa Into Chlorine Pool

Day to day I use test strips. I verify with my Taylor k2006. Since my pool is super clean and clear with the chlorine pucks, why should I care about converting bromide? Why is that bad?

Mixing Bromine Spa Into Chlorine Pool

If I'm understanding properly; There has been no issue with putting chlorine pucks in what WAS my bromine feeder (eg; chemical reaction). Chlorine levels in the pool are perfect and pool looks like a million bucks So I'm not really in a hurry to go to SWG, but ultimately SWG is how I will...

Mixing Bromine Spa Into Chlorine Pool

Ok, I think that makes sense to me. However, (forgive me if this is an entirely separate issue) I was advised to switch over to a SWG only after I get a new liner (presumably because the entire pool will be emptied at that point and all bromide will be lost). If the chlorine activates the...

Mixing Bromine Spa Into Chlorine Pool

I half expected that, but had trouble with the concept of a sanitizer still being present that doesn’t sanitize anymore. Thank you for clarifying Pool Medic. I’m thinking I’ll use up my remaining bromine pucks in the tub and when the pool needs a new liner I’ll switch them both to chlorine...
