Pool green for over a year.

The pool school article recommends leaving at least 12" in shallow end to keep weight on liner and prevent it from shifting so I think your limitation is liner not the yard There are some other options such as the water exchange in the article which you could probably combine with draining...

Darn was hoping shallow end was deeper that means to keep liner from shifting you can only drain 1.5-2 ft at a time

With the bromide in the water that is needed based on what others said earlier in the thread. Does she know how deep the shallow end is (assuming with 42k there is a shallow and deep end)?

I still think you & home owner would be making quicker progress with adding chlorine to get to SLAM level more frequently than focusing on filter at this point

Why are you not performing a SLAM? Based on color of pool you're not at stage yet where it is primarily a filtering issue. Green=algae, chlorine kills algae filters don't but both are needed for slam

At that rate I also doubt it will clear by Monday. With 42k gallons 2 gallons of 12.5% bleach brings you up to SLAM assuming it at least holds above FC=5 between additions. so you are only getting up to or close to SLAM 2x a day (assuming there is at least FC=5). Can she measure/add a time or...

How many times a day is chlorine being added?

Should they raise cya level up from 0 to 30 so they don't lose so much of the chlorine to sun or does the bromide change things?

    Pool Math........The App

Oh oops thought it did both last time but looks like my memory was off. Found a way to get last couple days of chemicals on the log page but not in csv format either. I'm curious too now. @Leebo should know. Is what PoolStored is asking about possible or was that in the list to look into already?

    Pool Math........The App

If you go to the hamburger menu top left there is an export/import link there. Should see something like this once there

Cloudy water and brown/green sediment. Please advise.

Yea tftest kits sell either the reagants individually if you just need the 0871 or they also have the FAS-DPD tests with the 3 things you need for the testing FC and CC if you are lower on all those

Cloudy water and brown/green sediment. Please advise.

During the slam to conserve reagants you could use 5ml sample and each drop is 1ppm instead of 0.5 for 10ml sample. Go back to 10ml sample for any OCLT or normal testing

FC is gone after two days

Yea so you're at proper chlorine levels at least for normal use. With people swimming you will also likely see a bigger drop in chlorine than a day without swimmers

FC is gone after two days

And as Bperry mentioned you will want to reevaluate swg settings to make sure you are generating enough chlorine daily or are supplementing with enough liquid chlorine daily to stay at target levels, but you need to finish the slam first.

FC is gone after two days

Loss of 2ppm from OCLT confirms the need to SLAM. Whether you start before or after people are over is up to you since pool is clear so not a safety concern. You could bring it up to SLAM level before or wait til after. If you wait until after people leave I would use the liquid chlorine...
