Keeping O-rings in place during assembly

I did lube the ring sparingly, maybe I just need to add more so that it acts like an adhesive

Keeping O-rings in place during assembly

Hello all I am getting ready to open my pool. Today I disconnected my pump so that I could lub the O-rings. I can not get the O-rings to stay in their grooves during reassembly. The suction side one mostly stays in place, the one on the discharge will not stay in the groove. Any suggestions...

    Coating? on my pool wall

Thanks for the reply, we are on city water. Water quality is very good so I am doubting that it is metals. I have never used copper based algaecide, my PB added algaecide once last year when closing but it was copper free

    Coating? on my pool wall

All - So we have had our pool for about a year now. We used it last year for a few months before we closed it, and it has been open since late April. We have never had any algae issues and our chemicals have stayed balanced. I test everything myself using a Taylor kit. When I opened it this...

    Keeping a spare pump?

Good points, that is why I threw out the question. I am thinking that I will just go with the pump that I bought to pump out the pool during the winter

    Keeping a spare pump?

I started thinking about this due to the long deliveries. I am thinking about a singe speed, regular pump, probably around $200-250. I just need to not overthink it and just go ahead

    Keeping a spare pump?

Does anyone keep a spare single speed pump, for use if your main pump fails? Idea would be to just keep the water moving. I know it costs, but it would seem to save a lot of problems and keep the pool swimmable Thanks - Craig

"Oily" and tacky material in the pool on opening

Thanks for the response. We are on city water, very good quality. As for sunblock or oils, this is a lightly loaded pool. Did not have any real scum lines last year. The only things that I remember the PB using on closing last year was non-copper algicide and shock, but, they may have added...

"Oily" and tacky material in the pool on opening

Good morning. I opened my pool by myself the first time yesterday (construction finished mid summer last year). Followed my checklist and everything went well, including the preliminary startup ( then shutdown until chem levels are good) of my new heater (Summit XL140). I noticed some...

Filtering out calcium? Tell me why I am dumb…

You really need to look at the exchange capacity of the cartridge (ie the meq of calcuim that it can remove). Its 40,000 gallon capacity is probably at a low calcium level

Air accumulating on the pump bowl

Reggie - sorry for the delay. The air pocket was probably 3", enough to uncover maybe 1/2 of the water inlet. Increasing the pump speed to 1350 has eliminated any air entrainment

Air accumulating on the pump bowl

Marty, I do not have an automation system. My pool is very basic just a pump, filter and SWG. I have a single skimmer and 2 returns, no other features. My goal is to just keep it simple. With the Pentair Superflo there are only 3 “time zones”, so no opportunity to purge air with bursts of higher...
