How easy is it to replace a dead 5yr old Pentair IC40 with Pentair Ichlor 30?

So my Pentair IC40 lasted 5 yrs. Now dead (power at transformer, no lights, no power at unit). My pool is 18k, inground, pebble finish. My Pentair Mastertemp 400 just died due to leaking water exchange manifold (rusted and corroded tub). When pool company came out to replace it with a Jandy JXI...

Is it necessary to keep the salt up in the winter?

Dave, You are right on the money with your supposition. We have had a surplus of rain to the tune of 15+ inches in the Atlanta area this year. I do have an overflow drain and I suspect that this has contributed to my salt deficit. Thank you for pointing this out !

Is it necessary to keep the salt up in the winter?

Thanks for all the replies, now I realize the error of my presumed logic. I take it that my four year old Pentair IC40 is starting to give erroneous readings. I have done a search and see numerous comments about that issue on several threads. I will take the SWG off and clean it to start with...

Is it necessary to keep the salt up in the winter?

Hi Jim, No leaks, just low salinity. My salt runs at around 3500 in the summer, it’s about 1200 now. My neighbor has a pool and he mentioned that he kept his salt up via a bag a month in the winter so he wouldn’t have to put 6 or 8 or 10 in, in the Spring. That was the source of my question.

Is it necessary to keep the salt up in the winter?

We live in Georgia and don’t “close” our pool. We do have a heater but don’t routinely swim in the winter. We have a salt water pool via SWG. Once the water gets below 50*, the SWG quits production (or conversion) of the salt. So is it necessary to keep the salt level up incrementally (a bag or...

Close or Not to Close Fayetteville GA

Good morning, I live in Kennesaw and I have done just what you are describing ever since we had our pool built going on four years now. I’ve never had any problems with my water. I have my freeze protect set on 32*. I believe the salt cell stops working at around the 55* water temperature mark...

Tannic acid stains from waterlogged leaves on the bottom of the pool

I have several large trees near my pool. We decided to keep them when we built the pool three years ago as we like the partial shade they provide in the summer months. This year, the leaves falling into the pool have seemingly been worse than before. I was recently out of town on a business...

    Master Temp Error Message (400k)

I have the same Pentair heater. After two years, with minimal use (we live in Atlanta- use it a couple weekends a month in April and May each year; maybe once or twice more for maybe a Christmas day swim, a grandkids birthday, etc) it began to shut down for no apparent reason. I have the...

    2nd water testing reading

So, I just tested the water for the 2nd time after taking over my own maintenance. Over the past two days we’ve had a large family gathering w/lots of little kids, playing all day long. We also have a waterfall that my wife likes to let run all day. Not sure what I expected to see, but my...

    Vacuuming Basics?

Thanks for the link, I was a bit quick on my original reply, I had posted just before your reply, now I see one merely drops the hose into the skimmer well.

    Vacuuming Basics?

Ok thank you. How does the hose plug into the skimmer? Do you take the skimmer basket out and use some sort of manhole cover type of apparatus to cover and seal the skimmer hole in order to create a vacuum?

    Vacuuming Basics?

Ok, so I’ve taken over the maintenance of my pool myself. I have a question about vacuuming the pool. I have ordered a 30’ hose and a vacuuming head. My robot vacuum connects to the side of the pool via a two-piece valve (LETRO) that fastens with a push and a quarter turn. I assume this is where...
