For my own records - INYO recommended the PureLine Prime Pool Pump 1.5 HP - PL2602 ($379) but in CA I minimally need the PureLine Prime Variable Speed Pool Pump 1.65 HP ($649).

Thanks for the comments jblizzle. Just as an update - I decided to get a new pump. I called INYO and they recommended a straight single speed pump replacement but then canceled the order after I placed it because California law required a 2 speed or variable speed pump! That was going to cost...

I am including pics - one close up you can see the hairline crack water spurts out of - then one further back to see the part. I'm guessing I just need to cut the PVC and find a new junction to install a new one....

I am draining my hot tub so snapped this photo of the hard white stuff building up above the water line (water line was where the tile is dark blue). Is it scale? I've tried wiping it off with vinegar but it doesn't help much. Any other ideas? Thanks!
