    Check my numbers?

Alright, understood. Off to the pool store I go. Just to confirm: Step one - overnight test Step two - boost CYA to ~50 range (use the chart to maintain chlorine once there) Step three - reduce pH (add appropriate acid per poolmath and aerate) Step four - profit?

    Check my numbers?

Sweet. Remind me - I can do an overnight test with the pool covered? The wind here is blowing sustained like 25mph+ today, if I leave it open I’ll have 300lbs of blow sand in the bottom of the pool by midnight. Regarding CYA - If I am unable to accurately measure as it is, should I start with...

    Check my numbers?

Hey everyone. Y’all were so helpful last year, but I feel like I forgot everything I had learned over the winter break while the pool is closed. Let me give some context! I covered the pool with the autocover in October last year. I’m in West Texas and the pool is filled by well water. Weather...

    Update - Post SLAM

Hey bud, quick question. Pool math is asking me to add 15lbs of cyanuric acid. I understand I need to suspend it with socks... does it slowly dissolve? Do I just suspend one sock at a time or several at once? It seems like a lot of dry acid, I just want to make sure I’m doing it right.

    Update - Post SLAM

Alright, I’ll get some cyanuric acid and muriatic acid tomorrow morning - I need to run into town to get some fertilizer for the trees anyhow. Once that’s done I’ll follow the steps to bring TA down. Forgot to update, salinity is right at 3200 again.

    Update - Post SLAM

    Hey everyone. I’m about two weeks past SLAM procedure and just tested the water again. Here’s what I’ve got: Cl - 5-10 pH - 8.2 FC - 12.5 CC - 0.5 CH - 450 TA - 270 CYA - 30 Previous readings were: Cl - 0.5 pH - 8.2 FC - 0.5 CC - 0.5 CH - 375 TA - 290 CYA - 30 My question to you folks is...

New Pool Owner, tests are in

Yeah, that’s what I figured. I asked my guy to bring me 15 so that I have some extra to put in storage but plan on dumping in 10 bags.

I'll do my best! I'm at 2090ppm now. I need to bring that up to 3200 ppm on a 40K pool. I think my math is good!

Morning, guys. I wanted to update everyone that the cloudy issue has been completely resolved. I’ve maintained a 12ppm CL level for a week now and haven’t lost any chlorine at all. The water is crystal clear, obviously SLAM works - so THANK YOU! I did test salinity and it’s a little low, so...

I didn’t make that call, my pool guy buddy did. He said that I would likely be adding about a gallon of acid every week & a bag or two of salt, depending on the chemistry. It was very low, I forget how many ppm it was. I’ll order the salinity tester this week and see what’s up. The low salt...

Fairly certain. I used a couple of volume calculators that pegged me at around 38,000 and then the people who owned the home before me and built the pool said it was 42,000. I’d guess we are within about ~2000 gallons of the correct volume. That said, I’ve never drained it and filled it, so I’m...

Ok, so basically what the overnight test indicates. That makes plenty of sense, thank you sir. I’ll test again this evening to see if I’ve dropped more than 1.0 CL.

Thank you for saying that, but can you explain why?

I have not, I will do that tonight when I test CL again. Post edit: I just noticed that I do not have what I need for salinity test... or at least I don’t think that I do. It’s not included with the TF100 kit, I don’t believe. I’ll have to order? That said, the SWG has a red light that says...
