    saltwater and dogs

My yellow lab loves to swim in the pool so we let her some when we're swimming. I switched to saltwater about a month ago and now she seems to be shedding excessively. Can saltwater on a regular basis cause this? Thanks,

    Polyquat 60 for Intex pool

Sign up for Leslies emails and every so often they will send half off coupons on the poly 60 and other things also, not just chemicals either. That's if you insist on using it.

    Salt level vs. chlorine production

Thanks guys, just trying to figure out how important the salt level is. I'll just keep it within the range.

    Salt level vs. chlorine production

Does salt level affect chlorine production? If so, is it significant enough to have to adjust how much you run the SWG? Thanks,

    Going to saltwater

So far so good It's only been a little over a week but I am going to say initially at least, the Intex Krystal Clear chlorine generator is a success. It makes plenty of chlorine for my pool in just a few hours a day, I usually run it about 7 hours a day. This has been a wonderful week of not...

    Going to saltwater

Chlorine was 9.5 around 1 PM yesterday and 10.5 last night after running for about 7 hours, so it kept up good on a very hot day. Running 7 hours today and will check tonight.

    Going to saltwater

Everything went good except for connecting up from the sand filter to the weird fitting that came with the unit. Trip to HD was successful though. My salt was bout 3500 (according to the expensive strips I bought before I found some in the box) so I'm glad I didn't put more than 160 pounds in...

    Going to saltwater

Oh, by the way, my TA was 95 and pH was 7.8. Should I bring my pH down a little? My CYA is around 40 so I can bring that up some but I'm gonna wait to see how the SWG does. It says for my size and ambient temps I should run it 7 hours a day, does that sound about right?

    Going to saltwater

The chart says about 180 lbs. of salt, i added 160 tonight and will check in the morning. I'll get the SWG installed tomorrow and cut it on tomorrow evening. hopefully it will go good and keep my pool clear. One question, does the salt itself have some disinfecting qualities? Thanks,

    Going to saltwater

OK, I've had it with chlorine bottles, I bought the Intex Krystal clear SWCG. The vast majority of reviews are 4 or 5 star so i'm gonna give it a try. Hopefully I'll have it installed this weekend, I say hopefully because I'm not sure what all it's gonna take to hook it up. If I've been adding...

    CYA test

OK, I just got my CYA test today and ran it twice. I got about 25 both times which is what I kinda expected. I have the chlorine test already and can take TA and pH at work. CYA was the only other thing I really needed to test for but I thought I could get this from the pool store every so often...

    Hach pillow packs

I wonder if someone knows if these would work for testing, then it would be the same amount of powder every time. http://www.hach.com/hc/search.product.details.invoker/PackagingCode=2105603/NewLinkLabel=DPD+Total+Chlorine+Reagent+Powder+Pillows,+10+mL+sample,+PK&frasl%3B300 They are hach pillow...

    how much 0870 powder

I ordered 2 Oz. of 0871, when that gets here I will do testing for repeatability. In fact I have several methods and chemicals to test against each other.

    Test Results and action

It was still a little green yesterday, I couldn't tell the color in the dark this morning but i will take a look this afternoon. If it has a green tint does that mean the algae is possibly still alive? Thanks, Roger 18' AG
