My yellow lab loves to swim in the pool so we let her some when we're swimming. I switched to saltwater about a month ago and now she seems to be shedding excessively. Can saltwater on a regular basis cause this? Thanks,

Chlorine was 9.5 around 1 PM yesterday and 10.5 last night after running for about 7 hours, so it kept up good on a very hot day. Running 7 hours today and will check tonight.

Everything went good except for connecting up from the sand filter to the weird fitting that came with the unit. Trip to HD was successful though. My salt was bout 3500 (according to the expensive strips I bought before I found some in the box) so I'm glad I didn't put more than 160 pounds in...

Oh, by the way, my TA was 95 and pH was 7.8. Should I bring my pH down a little? My CYA is around 40 so I can bring that up some but I'm gonna wait to see how the SWG does. It says for my size and ambient temps I should run it 7 hours a day, does that sound about right?

The chart says about 180 lbs. of salt, i added 160 tonight and will check in the morning. I'll get the SWG installed tomorrow and cut it on tomorrow evening. hopefully it will go good and keep my pool clear. One question, does the salt itself have some disinfecting qualities? Thanks,

I use the fiber clear, it seems to do pretty good and it's about 6 bucks a bag.

OK, I just got my CYA test today and ran it twice. I got about 25 both times which is what I kinda expected. I have the chlorine test already and can take TA and pH at work. CYA was the only other thing I really needed to test for but I thought I could get this from the pool store every so often...

I ordered 2 Oz. of 0871, when that gets here I will do testing for repeatability. In fact I have several methods and chemicals to test against each other.

It was still a little green yesterday, I couldn't tell the color in the dark this morning but i will take a look this afternoon. If it has a green tint does that mean the algae is possibly still alive? Thanks, Roger 18' AG
