    Borates. Better practices

Yes, they were coming and going continuously. Almost a month of having borates, I have seen no more than 5 wasps come to the pool in that time period. I used to have 5 wasps in 10 minutes. Well worth the expense and effort, plus I went down to 5% of my CYA for minimum FC and have zero water...

    Chlorine on SALE

I bought 5 boxes (10gals) today and they did not say a word, been doing so all year. I wish they sold the higher percent acid so I could save a Home Depot trip!

    Chlorine on SALE

Fry's in the east valley (AZ) has been keeping theirs on sale at $5.99 (2gal pack) 10% for the past month. Just picked up some more today. Do you guys keep yours in the garage? As long as it is out of the light, it can take the heat for a few weeks?

    Borates. Better practices

I agree, the article above was very helpful as I was considering adding borates. Early this week I pulled the trigger and added 25lbs of boric acid over a few day span. Based on the test strip I am somewhere between 30-50 borates; it was very simple to add and brush around the pool. I liked the...

Low Calcium Hardness level - to do or not to do

High 2000s, forget the exact number. Another reason I drained was my CYA was really high too as I was using pucks before coming across TFP. Now I am all bleach and CYA in a sock!

Low Calcium Hardness level - to do or not to do

Hi, I am in Mesa. I ordered a TF-100 and will see what I get when it arrived. In the meantime, I brought in a sample to the pool store and they got 100 and said it will rise on its own as it warms up.

Low Calcium Hardness level - to do or not to do

Thanks Allen! Looks like TF-100 is the most popular with the users, I will search for the best price! What's your position on low CH, let it raise on it own or intervene?

Low Calcium Hardness level - to do or not to do

Hello, I did a complete drain of the pool due to the level of dissolved solids and have been balancing the fresh water for the past two weeks. I was not expecting low CH levels in Arizona and am wondering if I let the level raise naturally or raise the CH with calcium chloride? FC: 5 CC: 5 PH...

    Stubborn Hard Water Line

Thanks, Jason! I’m glad I came across this site/forum! Those blasting videos are pretty cool, I wish there was a residential version available (sticker shock). For now, I got a quote for $3.50/ft which is around your guestimate.

    Stubborn Hard Water Line

Hello, I have been trying to remove the unsightly water line on my pool and water feature this summer. I live in AZ and hard water is an issue as soon as we fill our pools. However, the current line (pictures attached) will not go away no matter the method. Failed Methods (in order): 220...
