    Pool heater

I can see your logic but it's missing some consideration or factors. In a particular situation your statement could be correct, but it's only certain conditions. If your pool is already at the desired temperature the heater would only need to be as large as the heat loss to maintain the temp...

Pool Opening and Converting to Salt

Not to preach, but pool stores are not always accurate in there reading. I took the same sample to 3 stores the same day and got different reading from all of them and from testing myself. The time it takes to drive to the pool store you could have tested already. If you want to continue to...

    Circupool Core55 or RJ60?

I when RJ60 because my pool is 32K gallons and it was a free upgrade from the RJ45 at the time. The RJ60 is only $70 more than the RJ45. The CORE55 is also about the same cost as the RJ45. In theory the RJ60 should be the lowest cost over time since it can output more chlorine. If you are not...

How best to seal vinyl liner at light niche?

Careful use of a heat gun or pouring hot water over the liner will help make it more pliable to align the screws. I have used an electric tea kettle to heat water and pour if over the line to help get the liner back in the track. Also wear gloves to help protect your hands and don't accidently...

    Help with Pool Light Housing

Yeah that looks like an experiment that didn't work. I would suspect the light was on when it was not under water and it caused the potting compound to expand and break through the what was sealing it in place. I kill shut off the breaker to my light when the pool is closed or when the like is...

The light has fallen out of the pool and is hanging in the deep end. How much of a problem is this? New pool owner here first post. Isn’t that special

As Bperry state the light should float. Check to make sure there is no water in it. Would may need to replace the gasket and dry out the inside. Also check the ring in the pool wall to make sure the light can be installed in it. I am not sure how the mounting is on your model, but the metal...

Pool water very low after winterization

Once it's open and you're brave enough to get in start checking for leaks. Make note of the level you found the pool at, it may have a leak at that level or could be lower. If the light is at this level there is a likely chance electrical connection to it is the culprit.

Hayward S180T Sand Filter Tank Needs Replaced

Typically it's almost the same cost to replace the entire unit and not just the tank. Last time I replacement mine the height was a little different as well and needed some of the plumbing changed as well.

    Can’t Get Light to Seal

Make sure the sealing surfaces are clean. Also check that the sealing face is flat. Are you sure it's leaking through the gasket and not where the cord enters? I have only used Pentair gaskets, if you are using a gasket from someone else maybe it does not fit correctly.

    How Long Do Patches Last?

How long a patch lasts depends on many things. It could last the life of the liner or it could last days or anywhere in between. Depending on the location of the patch and how it was done, I would ask for a new liner or half the cost liner replacement. If the patch is in a stressed part of...

Correct wiring for 240 safety switch disconnect

FYI the NFPA 70 - National Electrical Code is freely accessible. You do need to create an account, but it's free. With some searching the interweb and asking your favorite AI, you can usually find what sections on the NEC have the information you are looking for.

    Moving Electrical Position

Consider how the irrigation controller is powered (power brick or wall wart). Not all fit under an in-use receptacle cover. You may need to put a receptacle and the controller in an weather proof enclosure.

    That Ladder Saga

If you have 3D printer or know someone who does you can make those plugs a lot cheaper. another idea to limit how far the ladder drops into the cup would be to put collars on the ladder to limit how far it can drop in. McMaster-Carr - not sure if this is the correct size I tighten the cup...

    Pool pipe replacement

Compact the soil in the trench to start with if it's been disturbed. Then bed the pipe in pea gravel, stone or sand. Use materials that require little to no compaction around the pipe. Sand does have a greater risk of washing if there is a leak. Also consider the surrounding soils, don't...
