    Where did my CYA go?

Done. How do I remove or update the signature. None of that info is mine. Stabilizer is dissolving in the pool now.

    Where did my CYA go?

Thanks for the info. I'm in Tulsa, OK. This is my 6th summer with this pool and I've never added any stabilizer since it was initially filled. I float some pucks for a couple of weeks while on vacation and that's always been enough to keep the CYA up to the 50 or so range through the summer...

    Where did my CYA go?

Just opened the pool this weekend. 23,700 gallon above ground. Vinyl liner. Sand filter. Current readings: FC 3.5 CC 0.5 PH 7.5 TA 100 CYA <30 The CYA level was between 50 & 60 when I covered the pool last fall. I expected it to be about the same when I reopened. My test cylinder only...

Pool consuming 4 ppm of Chlorine per day. Is this normal?

Re: Pool consuming 4 ppm of Chlorine per day. Is this norma I should have mentioned that 2-3 swimmers use the pool for a couple of hours 4 or 5 times per week. Usage does not appear to have an effect on chlorine loss. The only debris in the pool are a few grass clippings if I mow on a...

Pool consuming 4 ppm of Chlorine per day. Is this normal?

23,800 gallon above ground pool. Vinyl liner. Full sun. Crystal clear water. Average recent temps in low to mid 80s. Taylor FAS-DPD test kit. pH - 7.7 TA - 110 CYA - 50 CC - 0 Taget FC - 6 Min FC - 4 I've been needing to raise the FC each day to 8 in order to keep it from dropping below 4...

    Testing pH

My pH test is from a Taylor basic pool care DPD test kit. I don't see a number on the package.

    Testing pH

Just got a new bottle of Taylor phenol red. 5 drops turns any water sample blood red. What is the proper number of drops to add to a Taylor comparator that came with a DPD test kit. I have a year old HtH kit, and 3 drops of Taylor gives a similar reading to 5 drops of HtH.

Will soot and ash have an affect on water chemistry?

We've got an uncontrolled widlfire burning southwest of here that has already claimed over 50,000 acres. It's about 30 miles away, but my pool has gathered a significant amount of soot and ashes today. Will this have any affect on the water balance? I tested this evening and noticed that the...

    "Slime Green"

All I can say is Wow! One week ago today, I stuck a ruler in the pool and the end disappeared before I hit the 5 inch mark. Today, the water sparkles in the sunlight. And yes, I can see every spec of crud on the floor. The FC is slowly dropping and is at 13.5 now. The Ph has remained...

    "Slime Green"

Success! The overnight test passed. Last night: FC 17 CC 0 This morning: FC 16.5 CC 0 I'll let the chlorine level drop down to the prescribed level and then start to work on the Ph. Final tally: 7 day repair process (6 of those without a proper test kit) 2 50% water changes (12k gallons...

    "Slime Green"

Thanks for the explanation. I also have a Taylor basic DPD kit that I purchased from the pool store in March, and I used it to retest the Ph. The test results were the same as the HtH kit at 6.8 Doesn't the Taylor DPD kit use the same reagent as the K-2006? I do plan to wait until I remove...

    "Slime Green"

Still testing with the HtH 6-way kit (from Wal Mart) that I purchased on Saturday. I have a FAS-DPD Chlorine (K-1515A) kit on order and it should be waiting in the mailbox when I get home this evening so that I can get more accurate Chlorine numbers. I'm sold on the BBB method. The pool has...

    "Slime Green"

Can someone answer the question about my drop in Ph? I understand that you can get a false high reading with high Chlorine levels but I've not read anywhere here about possible false low readings.
