Just got a new bottle of Taylor phenol red. 5 drops turns any water sample blood red. What is the proper number of drops to add to a Taylor comparator that came with a DPD test kit. I have a year old HtH kit, and 3 drops of Taylor gives a similar reading to 5 drops of HtH.

Something must be happening. The water is grayish-green instead of solid green today and I can see almost a foot down into the pool. FC had is smallest daily drop so far, less than 4 ppm. I'll boost it back up and brush. We'll then see what tomorrow brings.

No, this is a temporary solution. A proper test kit is on order and should arrive in a few days. I'm just using the dilution method until it shows up.

FC down to 15 this morning. Added enough bleach to bump it back up to 24. It may be wishful thinking, but it may look just a little better today.

Thanks for the welcome Big Island. I'm using drops, not strips to test my chems. I'm fairly confident that the CYA level is just shy of 60. The sun is setting right now, so I'll test FC again and then add enough bleach to get the level back up to 24.
