    Light fixture wiring question

Thanks for the responses, very helpful as I have never worked with pool lights before. Chipped the potting compound off the lug, cleaned corrosion off the wire and attached. I looked into reapplying potting compound but found out that it needs to be a dry application. That will have to wait...

    Light fixture wiring question

In process of replacing light fixture. In the junction box everything looks pretty straight forward, except there is a heavier gauge (10 I think) wire (not part of fixture wiring) coming from the niche. Connected to it with wire nut in the junction box is 3 small gauge green wires (one each from...

Hayward pump and or motor seized up

Capacitor arrived this AM. Put the new one in and pool pump motor fired right up. Les than $10 fix!

Hayward pump and or motor seized up

Thanks! That seems plausible since the issue occurred without prior warning.

Hayward pump and or motor seized up

Loud humming noise when turned on. Motor and pump is not turning. Just happened yesterday afternoon with no warning. Was working fine in the morning and not making any abnormal noises. It is a Hayward SP3210X15. I see them for sale online as a motor/pump assembly. Is best option to replace both...

New to TFP - water balance issues

OCLT results - FC was at 7 last night and at 6 this morning. I am going to skip the SLAM. I have some 1 lb. bags of 68% Calcium Hypochlorite. Any issues with using these to maintain FC and raise CH? Or should I stick to liquid chlorine and use calcium chloride to raise CH?

New to TFP - water balance issues

Yes, the water looks great! After the fill we had a week where the weather was nice and water was 78-80 degrees and was able to enjoy the pool. Too cold now, looking forward to heater install!

New to TFP - water balance issues

The limestone rocks have numerous divots/holes that collect and hold water. There are large trees around my property that drop leaves/blooms/pollen that collect in the holes and allow algae to form above the water line which then is allowed to deposit into the pool. The limestone is actually...

I will be removing the chlorinator when I do the heater install. I think a SWG is definitely in my future, most likely early Spring 2021. I do have concerns about corrosion though as I have a limestone deck. I recall a SWG pool my father in law had that was always eating at the limestone...

New to TFP - water balance issues

Filter has been thoroughly cleaned and have been adding CYA. Just tested for CYA which is now at 35. Dosed pool with chlorine to get FC around 6. Will test for FC at sunset and perform OCLT. There was definitely evidence of green algae on the pool walls before the drain/fill but none in and...

New to TFP - water balance issues

There are some busy bodies on my street always watching out. They called City of Austin on the guy who owned house before for me for draining into storm drain. He also did a free fill from the fire hydrant out front which probably pushed them over the edge. All of it in broad daylight.
