My FC was spiking to 18-20 rather than the 16 that I was entering into the calculator. Thats why i was thinking it was smaller than I had been told by the pool store.

My pool is very deep for a Florida pool. 60% of the pool is over 5ft deep with the deepest part being 8ft deep. 25% of the pool is the shallow end that is only about 3.5 feet deep. So the decline to the deep end is very steep. The pool is 24ft long, and 14 ft wide, and is a bent rectangle. Thanks

Yes, however my results are making me question if I have the size if my pool accurate.

Man, that makes me really angry. So given my ability to only check the pool once in the morning and 2-3 times in the evening I am thinking that maybe I should just drain again so the chlorine lasts longer. Wouldn't you agree!

Gosh I am such a idiot! So I had a box of pool brand shock bags so I used 5 of those over the last few days for Slamming and then switched to bleach. The bag says its 99% sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione hydrated. Now my cya has rise from 45 on Sunday to 70 today. Do I need to drain again? Is...

Given my work schedule I am having a really hard time getting the time to slam the pool with a watchful eye. I raise it before and after work only to find the fc back at zero as soon as I get home. Any advice for this? Or should I just be patient and stay the course. The pool has turned from...

Just to confirm. Slam level is the FC level I want to stay at? Then when the FC level stays at 16 for a few hours without dropping I then level and maintain?

Okay the cya reads 42ppm after about a 45% drain and refill. My ph read 7.8-7.9, so it's high. Idk if I added to much borax a few days ago or if the tap water affected it. I was going to add some mutation acid to drop the ph then SLAM. Is that correct?

Yes the pool was empty for 15 years when I bought the house a few years ago.

Okay I will do the partial drain and refill. Water table isn't a issue.

Okay I re-did the test. I'm unsure what I did wrong last time, but this time I got 90ppm. When I split it in half I got 45.... So now we are consistent. I have added the borax and tested the ph at 7.7.

I have added the borax and I am waiting a hour or so before I retest the Ph. I redid the cya test and got a reading of 90. The definition of "just disappears" i feel is a little vague. My results were somewhere between 100-80 cya depending on what your definition of what just disappears is...

Thank you for the warm welcome. I will read through the pool school again tomorrow to get a better feel of the chemistry. I'm in Orlando, so winter is a long ways away and it won't last long. I need to get this fixed so I can swim! :) Pool season is far from over
