Pool Blocks / Support Level - Adjusting (micro adjustments)

Month and a half later...and still looking great. All posts were laser level set at 1/8" tolerance. Using the Concrete Patch worked great! One thing I did not mention in my previous post; one of the blocks I needed to go a little higher to make up the height. I threw in a little bit of...

Why are test strips so inaccurate?

I like the grenade analogy... :) My son is getting old enough that I'm starting to teach him out to use the Taylor K-2006C reagent test kit - so easier tests are not as necessary as before. But, it would be nice to have an easy test strip method when I'm out of town and we have someone (like...

Why are test strips so inaccurate?

oops, I did a search and found a similar recent thread on this subject. https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/most-recommended-test-strips.256901/ I guess from that thread...they all suck, thus called guess-strips. Wonder why they can't have a more accurate strip made?

Why are test strips so inaccurate?

Although I have and use the Taylor FAS-DPD & complete service kit....sometimes I like to do a quick test or send the kids out to get a ball-park test with the test strips. But I still don't understand why the results are so different than the test strips? The Free Chlorine & TA seems to be...

Is this pump motor running hot?

Yep, surface temp of motor. It was after sun down...so yes on shade..or no sun for that matter. 78degree ambient outside temp after sundown. 121VAC. Will have to check on the amperage/current draw...need to make a break out cable so I can clamp around a single conductor for that. Thanks. -J

Is this pump motor running hot?

New pump install, Hayward Power-Flo Matrix which is a Century 1.5HP motor. Outside ambient temp is 78degrees F. The IR Temp scan of the body of the motor is hot to the touch... @134degrees F. Doesn't that seem a little hot? The old 1HP motor definitely was cooler...

Skimmer & Return Jet Gasket with Wall foam. Trim back wall foam or sandwich with wall?

Looking through archives, and previous discussions on this...I'm probalby going to cut back an inch or so of the foam around the gasket mating areas. I had problems on the previous pool when trying to get the skimmer gasket to seal without cutting the wall foam back. But it wasn't this kind of...
