Looks like you are going to have to cut the pvc and add a pvc union piece and then add a new pentair union and collar to attach to swg. I went through this myself. Those collars get brittle over time and crack easily

I remove mine too and cap off the lines. I’m in NJ and not sure that my Pentair cell is substantial enough to bear the snow and ice of winter up here

Could be related to water temp. My Ic20 doesnt operate below 60-65 degrees though I usually get a red light when temp is too low

I believe the Pentairs still produce chlorine when reading high salt levels. That's one of their advantages. Some people clean the plates with household vinegar otherwise use about a 10:1 water to acid mixture

Definitely check with the Better Kit Taylor makes a nice one. Don't trust the strips. They are very unreliable
