    Question about water circulation

Thanks to the great advice from this forum I have been able to maintain a crystal clear pool. I did have a question involving running water features (beach entrance bubblers, water sheers), spa jets ect. How often do you guys run your water features (days a week and length of time)to make...

    Massive rain storm

Water made it to the base of the pumps before the rain stopped. I hope all survived.

    Massive rain storm

Hey guys & gals, Massive rain storm here in central Texas overnight and this morning. We had roughly 10 inches over the last 12-14 hours. Anything special that I need to do or watch out for with this much rain as far as pool care? I checked chlorine this morning when I left and it was lower...

    Spiders Around Their Pool?

I spray a product called bifen I/T with a hose end sprayer. I generally spray the entire yard and any surrounding trees. I tend to do this once a month from spring to early fall and have minimal issues with bugs. Our backyard used to be horrible to go in as far as mosquitos, fire ants...

    random questions

Thanks for the responses everyone. I know there is no concrete rule on this, I just wanted to hear what everyone else does. Twice a day seemed excessive to me since I rarely get any debris in my pool (who knows maybe it is because the robot runs twice a day). I will tinker with the times and...

    random questions

My pool has been crystal clear thanks to TFP but have been wondering about 2 things: 1) I brush the pool once a week & have a robotic cleaner that stays in the pool 24-7 & runs twice a day for an hour (pool builder set it on this schedule). This seems excessive to me. Those that have a...

    First year winter questions

I use the Taylor salt test to verify my SWG level which so far has been in agreement within 100 ppm. I will continue to test independently during the time my SWG is functioning but wanted to know if it were reasonable to not test during the winter.

    First year winter questions

Thanks for the reply. With the SWG I was assuming that my salt level will drop as I add water or with rainfall. My SWG has automatically cut off with the water temperature so it does not give me a salt level reading. I was more or less wondering if I need to test salt independently in the...

    First year winter questions

During the winter I know that my SWG is not running. Do I need to maintain my salt level or can I ignore it until the spring? I have the pool pump heater set at its current lowest setting of 40 degrees (I don’t know if it can be set lower). I would prefer that it not come on and run and...

    Pump run time & SWG

I live in Central Texas which means typically having a warmer winter than most. Daily highs and lows vary greatly from day to day. We do get some freezes but rarely do they last long. During the winter how long do you guys usually run your pumps (also what %SWG) and what time a day? I had...

    Cleaning pump filter basket

Thanks for responding. Things seemed ok I just wanted to make sure.

    Cleaning pump filter basket

I cut everything off & shut the valve then fired everything back up. Pump ran fine but had some air coming out of the returns but that eventually stopped. The pump basket filled with some debris again which I assume came from the filter?

    Cleaning pump filter basket

Got in a hurry cleaning them out & accidentally started the pump with the high pressure release valve on the filter open. Any harm done?

    ? about poolmath calculator

I was basing the Fc recommended levels off of the Salt Water Generator Water Balance section (I miss spoke the recommended range is 4-6 not 3-5). Mine has been running high between 6-10 (they have been decreasing because I have been playing with my SWG run time) but then I saw the recommended...

    ? about poolmath calculator

Hi Guys, Was running the numbers on the calculator and had some questions. Previous numbers were: pH 8 ,Fc 6.5 Tc 6.5, TA 130, CH 320, Salt 3350, CYA 60 I added acid to get my pH down to 7.2 and am aerating to bring by TA down a little. With a new plaster pool, SWG, high TA, and aeration it...
