My pool is going green and it's nearing time to close in New Jersey. Is it safe to close it while it's green?

Like the title says, my pool is going green. I've been struggling with algae this summer since life has given me bigger priorities and I haven't had the energy to take care of it. Temperatures are dropping next week. I'm thinking about closing in the next 2 weeks. I have a mesh pool cover and I...

With SWG pools requiring high CYA, how do you SLAM to open a pool?

I've been battling algae this year and it's my fault because I'm just too busy to maintain this pool. I'm seriously considering going salt next year. But one thing that concerns me is how do I open the pool with such a high CYA? SWG needs like 80 CYA? SLAMming that is a nightmare. How are you...

Help identifying if I have mustard algae?

Yep, I haven't completed the entire process yet. My reason for posting this was only because I saw it coming back like 12-14 hours after the initial clean and brush. It could be the dead algae but the way it was on the slopes of the pool made it seem like it was very much alive.

Help identifying if I have mustard algae?

I was doing some regular pool maintenance when I noticed algae growing in the pool. It had rained a lot recently and I accidentally left a 5 gal of LC out in the sun so I figured that the rain combined with weakened chlorine probably caused it. So I brought the pool up to SLAM level and spent...

How relaxed are you about maintaining your pool throughout your season?

I read all the how-to's and posts here and it's such great information but I guess I'm just lazy and I can't be bothered to follow it to a tee. After opening the pool is finished, all I really so is add half a gallon of chlorine every 2-3 days. I don't do any testing as I'm just guessing what...

I may have messed up my pool timer. Help?

Nope, not working for me =/ Looks like the motor isn't even running. I think I'll go ahead and replace.

I may have messed up my pool timer. Help?

So I set up my pool timer recently and when it didn't trigger to turn off in the evening, I looked at it and it looks like the off toggle was lodged sort of behind the timer wheel. I wasn't able to turn the switch to off, seems like it was jammed. It was tough to remove so I had to take a small...

Went to 2 Walmarts and they each had a single bottle of LC and it was just placed at a random spot along the aisle lol.

    Chlorine and CYA

I'm no expert by any means but I use test strips for routine checks if I want a quick reading. If I'm doing adjustment of any levels, I'll use the test kits. I recently added enough stabilizer to bring my CYA to about 30. Now my CYA is like 55-60 lol. I'm thinking that the it takes time to get...

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Aw man, I'm getting really excited lol. I know you basically have to dump a boatload of salt. Other than than fitting the SWG onto your piping, anything else that needs to be changed?

Beats the $5 to $9 price hike that Home Depot pulled. I literally have been looking at switching to SWG next season lol. Want to see if I can DIY it.
