Checking in to confirm how to use my manual air release valve

Hello Friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. I know this is so overdue because I can't recall how to release air from my filter, and of course can't find any manual. I added a photo - I know the pump needs to be running, I plan to do this when the pump is running a bit slower. ( I know...

    Smoke in the water!

Oh man, @red-beard , looks like I dodged a bullet on that count... it would've been very disappointing to lose all the beautiful variations of the stone's color to a white paste. BUT... it should be a good point to research for anyone building a pool...sandstone is way too soft and erodes way...

    Smoke in the water!

I did have a chance to seal the stone at the time my tile was blasted clean... I'll shell out the $$$ next time. Aside from helping to reduce the sand, I'll bet it makes the stone look good too.

    Smoke in the water!

Ok, good to know. I plan to slowly bring my CYA down to 40 or thereabouts. But thanks for pointing out the basic ratio, a real "Aha" moment for me.

    Smoke in the water!

Thanks for your reply! I really failed to catch the ratio on that chart, and was looking at other info on an ideal FC range. OK, OK... off I go. And its OK to swim in a pool with an FC at 8ppm, yes?

    Smoke in the water!

Hello there! I was SO proud of myself... took the CYA from 202 to 50. Did a SLAM and once I got the same CHL reading overnite felt very accomplished. Now on balancing, I felt I was struggling some keeping the Ph down and CHL up. (In reading up maybe my water isnt really very neutral) Anyway...

    TA value and CYA?

Thanks @Texas Splash ! I think my profile says it, but Schertz here. Nice to meet you! I did revisit the pool app and I'm sure I will be able to use it once I have data to add. And I will absolutely not give up on getting more accurate with the CYA test. I donated to become a forum member and...

    TA value and CYA?

And thanks for answering my other questions too... I did refer to the FC/CYA chart. It just seemed that I heard so many different values for ideal and max CYA. I think the forum's pool school info says 40-50 ideal, 50-60 max... and then other people replying on threads had other numbers,.. AND...

    TA value and CYA?

Thanks! That makes alot of sense, and you're right there is a shell of plaster, so I should call my pool style plaster when asked.

    TA value and CYA?

Hiya, and good morning! Hope peoples still with me to weigh in. @Texas Splash , hope to hear from you, or any folks with big sun. I'm in the San Antonio TX area, and I've seen so many ideals for CYA level thought I would ask. So confession... I am using the pool store's value for CYA since me...
